I own both PT & WG in the DD2 (so it’s definitely bigger, sportier and heavier)…
Not a fan of the fluted PLAT bezel or the cost today ($950 oz vs. $2350 oz of gold is very irritating-
Only buy the Platinum if you can really handle 290+ grams on your wrist for long periods - the WG DD2 clocks in at 220 grams (about the same as my DSSD Jim Cameron).
If going with the Platinum, then the ice blue (powder blue) is the only way to go as black, meteorite, pave diamonds, green and dark blue just don’t bring out the best of the Platinum…..

Nice collection beautiful variety, Platinum with that ice blue is a heavy hitter.
A true stunner. The WG is nice too. IDK now it would depend on how hard it is to find either one.

If not going for the ice blue dial….it’d be a tough choice.
If funds no issue, I’d personally go PT. Love the weight and just a bit more luster

I owned a 36mm DD platinum, and it wasn't hard to let it go.

I'd love an old-school "tridor".

Both the olive-green dial of the Ref. 228238 and the ice-blue dial of the Ref. 228236 are simply the best.
Personally, it depends on my preference for the color of the dial.

There is nothing like wearing a platinum watch and once you have it’s super hard to wear anything else.i love the fluted bezel but they stopped the honey comb dial and I like that more. Ideal combo would be the honeycomb ice blue with fluted.

I’ve registered for platinum ice blue sticks and WG slate sticks. No signs of getting either yet. First choice is platinum. But if offered WG slate first, I’d probably settle for that.

When the time is right for me, the WG with meteorite is the one.

I have a RG and this one, while both are special the ice blue Platinum feels different. No substitutions!

Still trying to recover from the impact of that fantastic picture.

I love the look of Pt and I love it's properties. Almost completely non-reactive. I've had to put the brakes on buying one a few times. To me WG looks mostly like stainless. I've held a WG sub and a SS sub side by side and while it was a little different, it was not that different. Platinum is really clean, for lack of a better word. Although tbh they could probably create a SS that looked just like it.

This is bad....on a recent thread I was saying how I tried this on at the Munich Airport Rolex AD a couple of days ago. Bad because, here I am looking at this watch. When I start searching like this and doing some recon....bad for bank account. This watch is spectacular. I have multiple WG watches and man oh man, this is brilliant in all ways. The whiteness of the metal and diamond markers is nothing like WG. Its actually brighter than steel.

There’s just something about the platinum.
So So heavy and bright. It’s really something even after a few years it makes us smile every time we wear them.

owned both. Each has its own charm but the bright platinum metal is really something else on your wrist
