It is worth continuing to buy Rolex watches

I’m 65 and have bought quite a few in my 60’s.

This is the only thing we have in common. As far as the watches, I'll stay in my lane.

I plan on leaving my kid two of the following 3:

1 - A good education
2 - Some money
3 - A few watches

1 & 3 are my top choices right now.

Geesh. I wouldn’t start packing away your life so quickly. Stay young at heart. Stay busy. Buy some kick ass watches and buy the car you wish you would have bought in your 20’s but couldn't afford.

If you have a passion for Rolex, keep buying until the passion disappears up to when you disappear.

Whoo I agree OP is young live and enjoy! I agree with everyones reply’s you never “too” young to do something or collect something. I like cars, watches and guitars! Collecting is fun, in the end my two kids will end up with everything. Might as well enjoy while you can!

I don’t see why not. If it’s a passion still, do it. I buy watches because it’s a passion of mine. As are cars. Just passionate about them. So until I feel enough is enough, I will still keep doing me.

i sense what you're getting at. At some point, people usually can be happy with what they have and a large majority would like to conserve assets for their heirs or future generations, even if they could continue buying more. I hope to provide for my future family as well.

I am definitely over 60 but don't necessarily have "enough" money sitting around so my answer is NO! I stopped collecting watches two years ago and started collecting money.

I am in my final year of the 50's. I have bought many Rolex watches but I started the move watches I was not enjoying as much. I have my collection where I like it. I will likely reduce it in time but my zeal for buying has greatly diminished. Keep the watches you love and sell the ones you are no longer in love with.

I am 67 and still collecting watches. If I were worried about funding a retirement, I don’t know if I’d be doing that. But I am not in that situation, and I enjoy the watches, and can afford it. So I do. You have to consider your circumstances and goals.

I recognize Rolex watches have value, but I collect them because I like them, not because they are an investment to be managed. Others feel different.

I am 60+, but will eventually keep less in collection.

If need money you can sell in the future when you can’t enjoy them for some reason.…

Not sure how to interpret what you’ve written.
It sounds like you’ve collected for monetary appreciation, not because you appreciate your collection.
If that’s the case, and you have enough money, then no, I don’t see the point.
Let someone who enjoy owning the watches acquire them.

Confused by the OP question. What does worth it mean. If you enjoy design, innovation and aesthetic, you might find owning a nice watch “worth it”.

I’m 61. I just retired. Life has just begun. Of course I’m buying another Rolex. Maybe two or three.

I'm planning to spend more time and resources on my hobbies which includes watch collecting.

I thought that was a good philosophy. Of course, he's dead now, but he knew what made him happy and enjoyed what he had.

I suppose I'm the opposite extreme, having acquired my first Rolex at age 50. I've almost worn it 20 years. Earlier this summer I acquired another, at age 69. Now my father is 91 going on 92 and my father in law will be 97 next week. If I'm as blessed I can still acquire new Rolexes and wear them for at least 20 years. Why wouldn't I?

I kind of get where you're coming from. I see my dad (27 years older than me) aging rapidly. I don't and won't have any children to leave my watches to, and if I live long enough I won't even need them, or be able to keep them wound.

Very different perspective than I had 10-15 years ago. It's led me to the conclusion that I'll get one more to cap things off...certainly a PM model, probably a DD40.
