Dude, you really don't have a clue. 41 year Giants fan here, and there's no more loyal fan. I root for the Giants and whomever is playing the Yank-mes or Dodgers. You can take that to the bank.

You just lost all credibility as a baseball authority. The Babe and Mickey were great, but neither can carry Willie's jockstrap. You can take that to the bank too.

Mickey's story is a sad one. If he would have stayed out of the bottle, he could have been the greatest player of all times. He did good, but could have been great.

You'll find no bigger Babe Ruth fan than me, but the greatest ever? No way. Willie Mays stole bases (338 career), was one of the greatest defensive players of all time, hit for power and average in a much tougher pitchers era and had a phenomenal throwing arm.

With all due deference to The Babe, Willie was a much more complete player. One thing I will concede: The Babe was a better pitcher than Willie.

I don't know where you get your info, but Mays played the bulk of his career in the 60's, a decade in which the Giants won 90 games or more 6 times. Hardly crap.

And nobody with any serviceable baseball knowledge at all gives Willie Mays a bad rap. Quite the contrary, he has topped best player of all time lists many times. Those voted on by baseball writers and his peers.

That's exactly right, Bubba. A Hall of Famer, but a lot of wasted potential.

ur FACTS are completely wrong.... 2 major sporting publications... the sporting news list of greatest players and sports illustrated both have babe ruth as the greatest baseball player of all time... if u like i can list 20 other websites and publications that have babe ruth rated above willie mays..... and anyone can just google this to PROVE IT AS FACT.....

mays played 9 years in the 50's for the giants... he also played 3 years in the 70's... so once again ur FACTS are INCORRECT... i guess the years the giants finished in 2nd place u consider winning years..... well not me...... its all about championships..... mays played for over 20 years and ONLY won the world series once.... thats a lot of losing in my book....

Yes, a case can be made for Babe Ruth being the greatest of all time, of course. The same case can be made for quite a few players. But, sorry, Willie Mays played in a tougher pitchers era and a more competitive era overall. My facts are 100% correct, Willie Mays is the best ever.

10 years > 9 years or 3 years. Who has their facts incorrect? I said Willie Mays played the bulk of his career in the 60's and he did. What don't you understand about that? Maybe it's time for a little remedial math!

Yes, the Giants only won one championship in his career. Many other great players won none. What is your point? The fact is, the Giants had some great teams in those years, and they came within a hair of beating your beloved Yankees in '62.

It's all about championships? Even your boys, who have won the World Series 26 times, have failed to win it in 70 other years as the Yankees (first year as the Yankees, 1913). Were all those other years failures? I bet the players who played on some pretty great teams that didn't win it would disagree with you. But what do they know?

But you just keep on doing what Yankee fans do: be obnoxious, get drunk and take credit for what your team does.

Just remember, you haven't done squat. Your favorite baseball team has.

I'll take Cain or Lincecum (with Madison Bumgarner on the way) over any of the meatballs the Yankees call pitching prospects, thank you very much. Don't get too cockyd (hard, I know). The Giants aren't that far from competing in the playoffs. I'd hate to have to face that pitching staff in a short series.

dont worry lincecum or cain will be a yankee within 2 years..... getting back to mays... he might not even be the best giant of all time.... as much as i hate to admit this.... bonds TOTAL numbers are better than mays..... that thought does really make me sick

It's not always about numbers man. If I had to pick one player to start an all-time team with, it would be Mays. Bonds would certainly be in the mix.

But since the steroid era is pervasive throughout baseball, you don't want to go there. Plenty of Yankees were implicated as well.

Good luck to the Yankees the rest of the way. That's a hell of a team you have there.

i love baseball just as you do.... i am well aware of the storied past of the giants... how many people here know that the franchise started in the late 1800's... my great grandfather had season tickets to the giants in the polo grounds....
