Finally received my delivery of a 72-01 after 2 years of waiting

Overjoyed to say the least - I haven’t felt this way about a piece since my first watch

Perfection! Congratulations on this excellent piece.
This and 67-01 are tops to me.
Do you have any other RMs from this boutique? I wonder if 2 years is the average wait for this one.
Wear it in best of health.

Congrats! Unfortunate there aren't too many strap variations except the solid rubber and velcro. Get a pink strap if you want something a bit eccentric. Light blue was a nice variation as well. Some photos below for perspective. Enjoy!

I purchased a diamond 67 about two years ago and noted my interest in the 72 at that time. Your results will probably vary!

Thanks for the pics, read through some of your posts on this piece as I was waiting for mine

You’re one of the few guys documenting the ownership experience of this piece, and I’m happy to start contributing

inquired for white - no dice yet

my guess is their “non lightweight tonneau RM checklist” should be fully or mostly completed to have a strong chance

diamond piece
round piece
ladies piece

plus some years of ownership with no flipping (even at a loss)

Interestingly, I was offered a 65-01ti. Not sure where this stands in people’s RM preferences, but this was even though they refuse to allow me to purchase a 72-01ti as a second piece. Was told to take a round piece, but didn’t appreciate being ‘forced’, especially at these prices. I’m guessing someone else passed on the 65-01 so they were fishing for another client to take it.

What’d you buy as the first piece ?

The 67-01ti, which I honestly intended to be my sole RM. But that piece really did foster an appreciation for RM (aside from pricing), at least the more ‘wearable’ pieces in my case. Considering the relatively larger but still wearable pieces, I asked for the 030…but they told me it was being discontinued. Then 72-01 came along and they gave me the above prerequisite line. Clearly, this is just my experience at a particular boutique, which is very different than others’ great experiences, especially for west coast friends. Ultimately it’s all good, since another RM would make other acquisitions financially too challenging without selling off other pieces, but it just made the boutique’s random offer of a 65-01 somewhat comical. It is what it is.

I think you may be able to get a 72-01 with some persistence

I was told a 72-01 would be my second piece, then 8mo later that it wouldn’t be possible. Another 16mo after that I was told I had the next one

With that being said, my first piece I took a bit more of a hit on market value than you did with your 67-01ti. So I feel maybe they’re “making it up” to me a bit more with these allocations

Either way, I had the same experience. Owning my first RM felt really special and the experience definitely built some loyalty to the brand

Thank you for sharing your experience. I was wondering about approaching them again, figuring nothing to lose. And I’m actually more curious now if/how attitudes may have changed. Even if they are open to it, I know it would be a wait for this piece.

Curiously, do the 67-01 variants take a hit in market? I know the round pieces do, but even the 67-01 looked priced over retail. This may have changed, and I know the 01s aren’t the most sought unless you really want one, so I believe you about the reality of the market. Only way that changes maybe is in distant future it’s discontinued like their earlier pieces.

When was the last time you checked in with them about a piece?

My 67-01 variant was not titanium - it was medium diamond set w/ white gold. At the time I liked it, but over time it got less and less wrist time..

I believe most RMs are trading below the lowest Chrono price you can find (by another 10-20%). Of course you will get the occasional (or frequent) grey retail buyer who pays closer to the Chrono price. But if you are looking to get out of a piece quickly, 20% below the lowest priced piece on Chrono24 (in a similar condition/year) could be a good place to start. Your mileage may vary greatly.

Side note - I’ve found Moda watch group on FB to be a good price indicator, even though I don’t really participate in buying or selling there at all

I think the reality is most of the prices you see in retail / Ecommerce settings are prices where the pieces are “sitting” for quite some time.

Very helpful points, thank you.
I hadn’t been thinking about selling the 67-01 since I figure it may be the only one I ever have, and I also know it’s not most popular so didn’t think a grey would be too interested (unless I really go for a low ball offer). A better scenario would be having this as part of an RM doublet with another piece.

The last time I had asked the boutique for anything besides a strap was about 1.5 years ago. And then of course there was the unexpected call from them to offer me a 65-01ti “because I know you don’t like the round pieces.” Actually, I’ve liked the 028 a lot…but not in the forced way they tried to insist I buy for a chance at another tonneau. Again, maybe attitudes have changed.

After a few months of wrist time - its a fantastic reference. Usually not into the bright colors and have a few other strap options already - but loving it as my first colored RM.

It would be smart to stop in and have a longer conversation imo. I think what you’re looking for is within reach
