For instance, with the SD, he originally predicted the red text on an otherwise identical SD4K. Anybody could have done that. But 13 days before Basel last year, he updated the prediction to 43mm, and added the cyclops; he also posted a rendering that was dead-on. Could he really have guessed that?
A company like Rolex would have an R&D department that would be making prototypes of a lot of watch combinations. So watches like the black/red GMT probably do exist, but top management has decided to not release it due to various reasons like quality factors or strategic positioning. So insider leaks are accurate to a degree if the leaks comes from the people who make, assemble, or assess the prototype watches, but impossible to verify if it is planned for release unless you have leaks from other areas like marketing, printing, etc.

Can we sue this guy? He's just plagiarising many of our theories, some of which some of us have been developing and rewriting for over a year... I'm talking to the Writers Guild again. # MeToo

CONFIRMED news regarding the professional line

What the Vlogger stated is to generate more clicks on his links for which he gets micro payments from Google/YouTube. Some people call that link-baiting but not me - at least he has gone through some of the points in a calm manner.

Here’s what stood out to me - when discussing the idea of brand jumping he mentions Omega, IWC, etc. But he never mentions Tudor. Later, he mentions model jumping - like increasing sales volume of Datejusts - but never mentions the Mac-granddaddy which is the Day Date, nor the dressy Cellini models.

If Rolex’s theory is to steer demand I believe we would have seen this in their Marcomm - both print and multimedia. Yet they don’t seem to be channeling demand.

Just some top of mind thoughts.

In closing, he needs to learn Gerardo is pronounced “Hairrrrarrdo”, don’t you think?

This thread has been to hell and back. It will be an interesting year for Rolex. Curious to see what happens...

Any of these letters surface yet? If Ad's received them why wouldnt they be posted since its common knowledge then? Inquiring minds gotta know......without reading through all these pages of course.

I just watched this video. This guy seems to be making it up as he goes. There is zero insight offered, nothing of value. Any of us could have rambled on for nearly 20 minutes about this thread and what the cut back in production might mean. Perhaps my perspective is skewed as I've read the bulk of this thread ands this will be insightful for those who are not on TRF. I guess I'm really in the camp of "this guy gets paid for this??". Maybe his other videos are more insightful...

It’s possible that an actual copy of the letter may surface at some point but I believe most Rolex AD’s are afraid of losing their franchise if the leak is traced back to them. Lots of AD’s also look at (or are members of) Rolex forums so I’m sure this particular debate is making the rounds. The information seems to be deliberately vague; no specifics about numbers, the specific models affected, etc. besides, if there is a sudden economic downturn this may all be moot anyway!

I have a question regarding "The Letter".

Why have no other AD´s except those mentioned by the OP received such a letter ? surely Rolex does not discriminate who gets it and who doesn´t.

I hope this helps a little bi - I posted it earlier in the thread but by now it’s buried under hundreds of other posts.

I visited my nearby AD the Monday after this broke - they were aware via a personal visit from their Rolex USA rep and the Regional Manager for our area. They delivered the news face to face and shared the reasoning - of course, even a Rolex rep can get it wrong so take it with that grain of salt.

The reason was a very large backlog in custom orders for some distribution channels. By custom, I mean where a client wants a different dial or set of options for a model. So the factory was directed (probably some time ago - my opinion) to refocus on the backlog versus continuing to produce the standard 2017 models.

Letters and visits started occurring before the 2017 Holidays. If we follow the production chain, that might mean the factory refocus could have been done as early as this time last year. Or closely following Baselworld.

Just sharing in the spirit of communication - not clogging my own opinions. The owners of the AD is who I know and they have hosted one of our most successful ATL GTGs before. They are straight shooters so I have no reason to doubt their explanation.

No I don’t think so. I think the notifications were at the beginning of what ADs May have already noticed in fewer incoming watches.

Think of Rolex factory making watches like the way a python passes a large animal through its gut. Slow and torturous.

Do you know and AD's so well personally that they would tell you if they had received such a letter? I know my AD fairly well. I bought my SD43 from him and have referred 4 people to him that purchased watches. Despite this I have no doubt that he would never provide this information to me. Gerrardo is in a highly unique position to receive it. No one else getting it is more a sign of their relationship with their AD's than evidence of lack of validity.

We will never know. Just as in any corporation, reps are different. They perform (sales wise) differently. Some are top 5, some are average (this explains why some get more coveted watches, or are the first to receive Basel releases). WHY and WHO gets this communication....only Rolex knows.

Well, Rolex is ruling the world of luxury watches specially in this booming global economy. As someone else said, it’s a seller market, not buyer

Oh yeah. In December he posted a one-hour review of the 116610LN he just bought, fresh with steaming-hot factoids from 2010.

P.S. Don't get me wrong, all this is making perfect sense to me and it actually it seems it has been already happening for a year or so, and up to a certain extent...yet it is unclear in the thread how you got that info (i.e. read or heard it); unless it is from the letter that Jocke posted which means he knew before you
