I like the muted look, and truly sympathize with your choice, but would have never been so brave to change the bracelet aspect of a 1 out of 10 watch!

What do you folks think of this brushed look? Like it or dislike it is personal preference, so be honest, I know one look is Never right for everyone!

Sure, however some say the dial is more pink than yellow, some say more yellow! The dial appears on a YouTube video of last years Dubai watchshow and to my eyes it looks more pink. Very interesting to see when these start appearing, I’ve been told around July time.

Thanks for the tip. I found the video and am more than torn. I’d say the dial looks neither salmon nor yellow. It has more an orange hue. May be subjective how I see it but, anyway, in this hue I do not like it. Will go with ice blue probably.

Just put the video up again and asked my wife and she thinks it more pale orange, suppose colour temps can be out. The glacier blue is very nice, I actually like them all.

Yours seems a .6 cm “non C link” (the “semi link”). Is it?

My understanding, but anyone who can confirm would be appreciated, is that this semi link is (unfortunately) no more part of the set where, in addition to standard .8 cm links, there are two “extra long” 1.1 cm links.

Does, for anyone who installed it, the extra long link slightly compromise the bracelet flexibility?

Czapek

While in email correspondence with Xavier on a strap, he let me know that he is having open heart surgery on January 11. Recovery should last a couple months before he returns to the helm.
Prayers for a speedy and complete recovery Xavier.

I think your the first to ever say I was brave. Thanks. I was hesitant and never saw a brushed bracelet. The polished center links with this dial just didn’t look correct to me. Kinda in conflict with this dial. Also I’m more relaxed wearing this now where I felt a little more self conscious with the polished center links. Weird I guess.

By the way, you choice is fully aligned with the approach Xavier often mentions when talking about Antarctique project: fortune favors the braves!

I also generally prefer a brushed finish, but I would never change the factory finishing. I’ve seen a few video reviews that say that the polished links have to be seen in person to be appreciated as it makes sense on the watch and brings the whole design together. That said, I’ve never seen one in person so my experience is limited.

Ah yes, fun with the color temp of ambient lighting (and if just a phone video, the camera's setting). This is where controlling the lighting and camera's settings to ensure an 'accurate' photos greatly helps. Of course lighting color changes in daily life....

Best wishes to Xavier.

I can’t help but wonder if anyone in this thread is an investor in the brand. With 200 investors who also appear to be enthusiasts you’d think we have one or twenty lol

Just sayin !

Any idea on how one could’ve become an investor?

Fingers crossed for Xavier. Such a great person.

That's great news!

Was asked the first time around (I think Kari asked me), and at that time was getting our then new home and other bits back then as I recall, so had a lot of funding 'in flux' with my plate full of many things to do logistically. Basically, I totally blew it the first time around :(

I don’t think anyone is paying 6 figures for these yet. Word is there’s a new one coming soon.

Well, seems like someone is.

In which range one shoud come? Antrctique? We’re waiting for an official launch of its 38.5mm version during W&W. Any other?

You can ask whatever you want. Call some dealers and get a buy price I’d bet you it’s below msrp.

New split

This isn’t meant as an indictment. They are doing great things quickly.

I just get annoyed when it’s all about the chrono asking prices which are almost always detached from reality.

But this is not only an asked price … it shows that somebody reserved that rattrapante at this price. Do you believe it is an “artificial” reservation or, in any case, a cross dealers movement?
Anyway, I’ve seen other Antarctiques sold (and not showing up again) on Chrono, some of them from privates, all reserved well above list price.
It seems too spread to be artificial, but of course one never knows …

All I can tell you is that it seems like you could rather easily land a split this year for 46CHF. Typically with that situation neither dealers or people are paying 3x. Just an observation.

I see, and that is my doubt too … I do not have an answer, do not know what is really happening, but surely the rattrapante case seems irrational.
I can understand the 3 hands Antarctiques exchanged above list price, especially the LE, considering that the continuing versions have almost 1 year wait and the LE are no more available at ADs but only on secondary mkt.
But rattrapante at 3x … maybe some rich and annoyed guy that does not want to wait or to seek around world ADs …

I have no interest in crazy secondary market Czapek prices. Just used this example to show how much the company grew since their capital raising in 2016.

Listened to this youtube video with Xavier in Dubai with him saying that they noticed multiplication of 3-4-5 times in placed orders. It’s such a nice moment when you can still correspond with management of the company on one’s order. I’m affraid in 1-2 year’s time they won’t be able to individually approach their customers.

A limited edition Rattrapante with blue sapphire discs is coming at W&W I believe, although my understanding is that it’s already available for order.

I’ve been into watches for a little over 2 years now. But hadn’t the same questions been asked when FPJ started to attract tons of attention?

Sure, of course. It relates to some killer ref (the well known Nautilus, AP Jumbo, now VC 4500, which at a certain time registered a rocketing in demand), as well as the relatively recent waive of indies (don’t limit it to FPJ but … just see for example old Roths that were almost forgotten and now …).
Czapek is showing all the right ingredients of the recipe… top quality, aesthetic, innovation, very low volumes vs demand …
