Even though the pics are unclear, the patina looks great. I wish you could send it over to me!

Well, I just got back from my special dinner, and at least you had some cell phone pics, so it's better than nothing. The first thing I did when I got home, was to check TRF.
Well, the good things in life are always worth waiting for. Come Monday....... really can't wait. Cheers , Carl

Meantime, yes, it was very kind of you to post cell phone pictures for now. They do say a lot, along with further building interest. Adds a bit of personality to it all. I don't know about other folks, but seeing the bracelet, the slightly different perspectives on the dial: It made it all the more personal. And then there's the crystal. Bob Ridley and I went back and forth for literally a month or more with research to get not just an original Rolex replacement for the one on mine (which had been seriously damaged - proving that these continue to be watches for wear, if desired!), but period-correct. Thanks for the update. |

That 1016 looks great Justin.
Seems to have excellent hands and lume with a chapter ring. I also like the jubilee bracelet and the gilt dial.

Great example Air King Dan !
I agree with Dell in that you oughta just keep the forthcoming pictures in "this" thread; it keeps the continuity and the lore of this "find" in perspective... Thanks, Randy

Congratulations on a great find! This is a great read. When do we get to the next chapter? Does Bond get the girl and shoot the photographer or blow up the factory?

When you do get your images, also take a look at the Thread I started here in the reference section on the original, literary James Bond Rolex 1016 Explorer of Mr. Ian Fleming. There is a sufficient variety of 1960s models in this lineage that I think it would be nice to add references images from current owners to help future collectors here. And now: Back to waiting. |
