I don't doubt that the TSA violated its policy and demanded she remove it.

However, I agree that she did several stupid things. Mainly, not securing the watch discretely in carry-on, and making the big fuss that put her on some thief's radar.

Shocking. I always wear my Rolex through when I travel.

I used to take off my ring and watch and started reading threads here that many don't. I just flew from Dallas and asked if I need to take my ring and watch off and the guy said no. I'm leaving mine on!

The mere fact that we have an agency such as TSA, staffed by the kind of people TSA hires is IMO, proof that we lost/or are losing the so-called war on terror.

Still LOL at some of the paranoid comments. Come on guys.
Very well said.

Not true. My GMTII has been through DCA security over a hundred times since the 9/11 changes and has NEVER set off an alarm or gotten questioned by TSA. And it's been through other airports hundreds of times since then, too, again with no problem.

Agreed. I live in DC and my watch never triggers the metal detector. Oddly, in the last month or so it seems like the metal detectors have been set to "belt". I never used to trigger it with my belts but now I seem to be tripping the alarm with them.

FWIW, your clothing can hide metal as you go through. I recall several years ago a security agent told me to fold my belt buckle and the waistband of my trousers backwards and down into my pants. Much to my amazement, it actually worked and I walked through "clean" after setting it off just a moment earlier.

My Deep Sea has passed without setting any bells or whistles off! Keep your watch on your wrist, I would not want to take a chance having TSA rifling thru briefcase and watch falling on stainless table.

Wow! Deep Sea made it through the metal detector. That is a lot of steel!

I remember in New Zealand, I had 3 passports that set off a metal detector! Got the full treatment afterwards.

I personally do not trust TSA with my valuables. I always keep a close eye!
