With Windows 7 and Mac OSX they are both great software systems.
I would look at what applications you want to run and then find the coolest hardware to run those application upon.
It might also be relevant whether you have an iPhone or a PDA running Windows Mobile.

Thanks Richard! It's so difficult to put down the Apple name. Now I know why there are true followers...almost like a cult. These guys just know how to put together a great product. I hope they get it right with the iPhone 4 though.

MacBook Pro 15.
I've been a Mac user at home for 9 years and I can honestly say that I have yet to have a crash during all this time.

I am stuck with Windows at work, and I do not hate it. I just find Macs easier to use and far more reliable, faster to boot, better battery life, and yes. Better looking. By a thousand nautical miles.

As far as Macs costing more... I do not buy that.
Make a PC with the same top of the line components you find in a Mac, and you will pay the same exact money.
Buy a 500 dollar laptop... You're gonna get something made with the cheapest parts available to man.

Shrug - It's a big company. Must only be in pockets. I have no reason to doubt my friends that work there.

I'm sure the company line is to never blame themselves for the Chinese attack.

If money is no object and you don't have to run Windows specific apps (I know about Boot Camp, etc) I would get a Mac.

Many of us think OS-X is superior to Windows, but you should know that Mac hardware still breaks just like Dell, HP, etc. Mac's are more expensive to repair, so I would go for the 3 year extended warranty.

No need for Boot Camp anymore, that was for the last OS. You just need to hold your nose and buy a Windows OS, and install it. As for breaking, I have three Apples and the oldest is 7 years old, nothing has broken on any of them, my dad has had three Dells break in the last four years, so I absolutely do not think Apple computers are the same as a Dell, they are built waaaay better. I would not put Apple's build quality in the same camp as Dell or HP, period. Look at JD Powers, Apple is always ranked #1.

As to repair costs, I don't know, but I do know when my iPod broke, and was out of warranty, I went to the Apple store, and they just gave me a new one on the spot! And speaking of Apple stores, if you need to install stuff from your old computer to the new one, or have a problem, or a question, the Genius Bar is fantastic! And their help is always free! Try that with a Dell or HP. Nothing for them is free. Comp USA wanted to charge me $100.00 just to transfer the old stuff from my old computer to the new one, as I said, Apple does this for free.

I do have some experience with broken Macs while out of warranty. It isn't pretty to toss a machine in the trash that costs twice as much as it's Windows counterpart. I love my Apple products, but they still break.

As far as build quality, a lot of HP, Dell, and Apple equipment is made by Foxconn in China http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn

I'm concerned that if I lean towards another mac product, there's no turning back. Although I do like both macbook & macbook pro. A bit costly compared to others, but think its worth it?

Appreciate your input.
With the new Snow Leopard OS lets you use Windows, but you have to buy the Winsows OS you want seperately: XP,Vista,7. So, you have both! GET THE APPLE!

PC are cheaper and virus software is expensive which means macs are better value in the long run.

Here's my question:

All of the mac people say that they use OS X because it is more secure than Windows, no viruses, etc.

So why are you using iphones over Blackberry? Blackberry is without question a more secure platform.
