Beautiful watch. I had always been a bit sceptical about Panerai's but was in an AD in Dublin (the only one in Ireland) and tried on a 359. It was nice but I prefer the cleaner dial of the 312. Is there a material difference between the serial numbers? Why is the "M" series so special?

Any tips to help with my journey to the dark side very welcome....

The 359 is a beauty, but like yourself I too prefer the cleaner look of the 312.
"M" series is special because it is the most recently manufactured series out these. Thr next ones (for 2011) will be "N" series.
Hope you cross over to the darkside soon!

Aha, thanks for the tip. I think I might take the plunge if a couple of little ducks fall into place soon!
