Pete G, I have my paul reed smith custom 22 eagle inlays insured :) Guns? Immature? Nooo, just like we take pride in our watches, gun owners take pride in their guns...But lets not get off topic :-P

I keep all my valuables in my biometrics safe, its a neat little toy but for some reason if I have a few beers in me it takes forever to read my finger print...

That's 22 frets, not .22 caliber, for those not hip to the guitar thang.

Nice axe, David!

Well to be frank yes I would kill someone if they were trying to kill me for a stupid watch. Yes then I might visit his friends next.

Remember there are tweekers all over who will do stupid things for drug money. A young teen was stabbed three times for $5.00 at a local burger king. Five lousy bucks, the suspect was caught by concerned citizens and given a major As- beating, good for them. Now if a teen could get stabbed for a fiver what would a tweeker do to you for a Rolex which would get him/her their dope fix for a solid month??

Is this a gun thread or an Insurance thread....?

I am going with the insurance thread....

I have a separate personal articles policy that is through my homeowners carrier, but a separate policy. Covers everything (loss, theft, breakage, etc).

For me, knowing that I can take my watch(es) anywhere and do anything with it is covered by the policy, and making a claim does not affect my homeowners policy.

You make a good point rich however that only usually happens in big cities of course there are exceptions...Thats why I love living in the suburbs, something like that would never happen

I highly recommend investing in one of these biometrics safes, for $600 its well worth the money.

Haha believe me i'm no comedian...However I always did envy people who can make a living by being funny...Now thats the life!

Hey if your ever down in NY let me know, we'll goto the range and let out some testosterone! We can play with a whole bunch of toys, you wouldn't believe the arsenal of confiscated weapons we have in our facility...When I go im like a kid in a candy shop!

Anyways, what company do ya'll use for insurance...I find Allstate to be great, and there customer service is spot on. Got into a fender bender a month back and they gave me a brand new Yukon as a loaner at no cost...Good stuff! I used to have Travelers insurance for a long time but AllState beat their prices in every category pretty much...

David those are nice safes, I have a Liberty safe took five men and a case of beer to get the safe into the area I wanted it to be. I could use a safe like yours for a certain area. Thanks

I use USAA for my house/cars.

I'm seriously considering using Jewelrs Mutual for my watch and my wife's jewelry.

Absolutely! I have both of mine insured on a rider with my homeowners insurance. It costs me $60 a year (for both) and covers loss, damage and theft no matter where or how it happens.

That's cheap piece of mind.

Walther PPK

Walther P5

The later Bonds carried a P99 in 9MM. The P5 never really became too popular here in the US, though I'm sure it's a fine weapon. I'm not positive but I imagine the original Bond PPK was in .32acp, not .380 (those were made later). On a side note...guys let's not make this into a gun control thread. I don't see any reason why guns can't be posted with watches without all the uproar. Another popular site doesn't allow any weapon discussion at all because of all the fighting. Let's not let that happen here. Just my .02.

As I have mentioned before I found out that my car and homeowners rateswent down dramatically through AARP. The use the Hartford. Through them they offer scheduled jewelry at very good rates. I have my ExpII at replacement value for about $120/year. Also have my son's Gibson Les Paul as well. You should look into this if you are over 50.

My homeowners is with Farm Bureau, but they didn't offer very good coverage on a jewelry rider, so I went with a personal articles policy with State Farm for my watch. It's $51/year for $5200 coverage and covers any mysterious loss (not just theft) as well as breakage. It's great peace of mind.

I also have guns, but I don't consider them as being in lieu of insurance. They are strictly for self-defense, not material-object-which-can-be-replaced-defense. Besides, they're of no use whatsoever if I drop the Rolex on a tile floor.

I also have my sub insured on a personal property policy through my homeowners insurance. It covers any mishap, anywhere in the world. Great piece of mind, since when I bought the watch my intention was to wear it.

Have any USAA policy holders made a claim? My homeowners' is with USAA and I was wondering if a jewelry/Rolex claim (on the separate jewelry policy) would make my homeowners rate go up.

Agreed value coverage on my home owners policy for both my GMT and one of my wife's rings.
My GMT is insured as a "Rolex GMT-master II. Black bezel, black dial". I call each time the MSRP increases and up the insured value. My reasoning is that if (God forbid) anything ever happens to it I am insured for full value of replacement. The newest replacement of my watch is the GMT-IIc model.

Hey Boopie,

I have USAA, and even with my homeowners I made a seperate listing for my Daytona. I got 12K worth of coverage for like, 70 bucks a year. WELL worth it.

Not USAA but State Farm. I somehow had dropped by Datejust into the bottom of my golf bag and after the round I couldn't find it and thought it had fallen out sometime. Many frantic calls to the pro shop and bar came up short and I finally called my agent. I had insured the watch under a PAF (personal articles floater) which covers all risks of loss. A few weeks later I received from SF a 8x10 certificate stating is was good for any Datejust from an authorized retailer. I took it to a downtown San Diego jewelry shop and picked out a beautiful white dial Roman numeral. After about a month I was playing golf and dropped my golf glove into my bag. I turned it over and, yup, out came the Rolex. Long story short, I had to return the new one, but I kept the extra links that were taken out to resize it for my small wrists. Point being, the Insurance company has the right to replace in lieu of cas.
