Why don't you tell your wife that when she makes more money than you and provides more then she can make these requests? Or stop getting her any form of jewelry or purses :)

Out of my collection this is an easy decision, my RoseGold Date Just (for formal affairs) and my Polar Explorer II 16570 for all other times. These two watches, at the present time, are perfect for all occasions.

If we are daydreaming, as you suggest, presumably the budget is unlimited so one could speculate endlessly.
In the real world however, I like classic designs, and if I had to choose two watches for all occasions they would be the Explorer 2 (black, 16570) and a JLC Reverso Ultra-thin. The Explorer covers all leisure (except deep water diving) and has the bonus of a 24hr hand for travel. The Reverso is a classic in steel and would be fine for the office and smarter occasions. You could have both (used but mint) for little more than $10K. I guess you could have the DJ instead of the JLC but the latter would be a nice contrast with the Exp 2. |

Submariner 16610 and Omega Speedy Pro if I could only keep two. Omega Speedy Pro if I could only keep one. I'll hold my tongue on the reality of the situation.

Sports and dress and there are plenty of combo's on your pref i.e. Sub or Daytona and for dress a classic DJ or something from another maker like PP or Breguet or VC.

Patek Nautilus annual calendar
Patek 5496P Would not be happy though. The minimum watch collection I would be happy with would at least need a AP RO silver dial on top of those two and I get to keep my Sub and JLC Reverso. On top of that I would probably nig and nag until I got the AP ROO chrono in Rose gold as well. With those 6 I would give in. Any girl that marries me will know about my watch obsession beforehand. Limiting me to two would really annoy me. Then again if we have paid mortgage and all other essentials I don't want anyone telling me what to do with the money I earn after that. I would always put my wife first even in terms of one nice holiday a year etc. but I want to save any thing on top of that. Even if it takes me 10 years of saving to get the watch. |

I'd have to say my current DSSD and either a the current White Face Explorer or a White Face Milgauss.
If money were no object then I'd get the White Gold Sub in addition to my DSSD. |

Thank God my wife doesn't give me ultimatums like that. As long as we have the extra we buy what we like. I do always talk to her about my big purchases and she does with me. If I could only keep 2 I'd keep my SubC and my AP ROO chrono 44mm. I could live without my DSSD and truthfully the only reason I haven't sold it because it was a gift for graduating college with honors.
I will say if I told my wife what some of you suggest I'd find my shit on te front yard. A marriage is a partnership regardless who makes most or all of the money. |

1. Explorer II 42mm Black Dial 2. Datejust II 41mm Blue Stick

If I could only have two luxury watches, I'd get one metal Rolex (Sub, DJ, or Daytona) and a really thin leather watch for formal occasions.

Within my means, the 116610LV and the 116613LN.
I'd love to have a DSSD but I don't see myself wearing it enough to be one of two given my frame.

I love my wife even more now. She just laughs at me when I buy, sell, trade, etc. However she knows that in my rotation, it could build up to 4-6 watches, but I'm a 3 watch MAYBE four max so I pare it down to 3 regularly.
The watches in my safety deposit box that I keep as "investments," well she doesn't know exactly how many are there. heheheheheh Id probably go a PAM000 and 5711 nautilus white or something along those lines for only two. |
