If you want to pay for shipping send the watch to me and I will have it serviced for you with a full FNFZ4 2 year warranty! FREE OF CHARGE!
I hope this gets resolved in an amicable way. its really dangerous to claim something that is out of our hands. A watch might be running within COSC specs one day and way outside of it the next. I have seen that happen. Merry Christmas to all of you! as a reminder... Love... Not War![/QUOTE] Major kudos to you! Whether the OP takes you up on this generous offer or not

I do not see Woody wanting to keep the watch anymore.
Like me I'd send it back and buy something else. Too much talk and this talk will come to no end. |

This is another Scenario... that is true. But IMHO this is just a big misunderstanding and can be settled amicably. I dont think Richard would do that. All we have as sellers in this community is our name. 5k or 10k can not replace that reputation. He is not really dishonest because he sent the watch. I have seen watches running fine then it gets dropped and its running all whack... I have timed a watch running +2. put it in the safe for 2 weeks, wear it, time it again and its loosing 20 secs... However, the customer must be happy before I am happy.... so if he wants a refund, i even pay for the return shipping.... so its 0 cost to the buyer...

I agree. I dont think the seller sold it like that on purpose. I see he has alot of great feedback. Its just too bad this same thing has happened before on TRF. I dont understand why the seller isnt willing to do a face to face refund. Woodys willing to come down from North Carolina to Florida on his own dime to do the refund. That seems like a win / win for both guys. It sucks for Woody because he'll still be out transportation cost but maybe he can make a vacation out of it and hit up Disney World and see DAVIDSW while hes down here to get himself another birthday present. |

I think we've reached an impasse here and this thread should be locked.
Whatever sliver of trust I may have had in the seller disappeared when he refused to do a face-to-face return. There is only one reason why he would want to receive and inspect the watch away from the eyes of others and it shouldn't be hard to figure that one out. The only way I can guarantee that I won't be cheated again is if I keep the watch and have it repaired. I like the watch. If you look at my "happy birthday to me" posting and my original feedback for fain you can tell how happy I was until the truth came out. The true test of a merchant is not what happens when things go right. The true test of a merchant is what happens when things go wrong. Refusing to do a face-to-face return speaks for itself. I'm going to take FNFZ4 up on their incredible act of kindness so I'm done here, but not before I thank everyone for their thoughts and suggestions. This is a vibrant community and one of the more civil and educated forums on all of the Internet. I'm proud to be a member here. THANK YOU: kilyung (Mike) for offering to do the FTF return 689maple (Russ) for the background info on the seller Kanger (Dan) for multiple offers of help FNFX4 (Alfred) for showing the true meaning of Christmas Peace out.

WOW; no face to face return. It would seem to me that any upstanding seller would welcome a face to face return. He inspects the goods and you get your money back. Perhaps one of our other well know Florida sellers can handle the exchange as an independant third party and we get this settled now.
I predicted who the seller was in this situation based on his after the sale service in the last scenario. What is that they say about dealing with adversity that measures the character of a person? |

OK, I take back my IBTL.
I think in all fairness we should hear more from Fangator on this. He has been one here for a long time and has had many transactions. As my brother the pilot says "You are only as good as your last landing." Fangator this is your chance to say your piece. |

I'm glad Woody is getting his watch fixed! Pretty sad another seller not involved in this deal is stepping up and repairing it for free while the seller refuses a face to face refund. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Kudos to Alfred (FNFZ4).
As I recall, the last time Faingator turned his back on a customer (Gasman as I recall), GREG stepped in to carry out good customer service. Kudos Greg (Mosco) also. It seems unfair to label Faingator dishonest. You can't prove he knew that the watch wasn't keeping great time. There is a case for suggesting that you may be better off purchasing from an AD or "Trusted Seller" here (those who you KNOW will come through for you) than take the risk with Faingator. Saying that, if he's super cheap then you can take the risk of being on your lonesome if there's a problem of any sort. |

Yes, I know. I read the thread I was just trying to give Faingator a public opportunity to give a more detailed version from his perspective or to make this whole. He has been relitively silent. I'd like to hear what he has to say. He has done numerous successful transactions here.
In business when a item return is warranted it is normally returned and then the money refunded. I see no evidence that he would not return the money if the OP returned the watch. I would not necessarily agree to a third party acting to return it either. Between me and the buyer. |

I've deleted the second thread regarding this and edited the above title to include the seller username.
Remember we can't just pronounce people as dishonest/fraudulent/etc. It is a matter of subjective OPINION. The facts need to be stated so that the reader can form their own opinion. |

Buying a used watch is always a risk...one man's "looks great and keeps time" is another man's "POS and needs service".
Good luck to all. |

I originally posted this here just looking for advice on how to deal with a situation in general and intentionally did not mention the sellers name. I simply wanted advice, but then the seller outed himself. It was always my intention that if I wasn't able to resolve this without outing this guy I would follow up in "Who's Who". As a result of this discussion, kilyung volunteered to act as an independent party and do a face-to-face return with the seller... but faingator refused the face-to-face leaving me with no alternative than to post in the Who's Who forum. The "Who's Who" forum is the place where people go to check the credibility of buyers and sellers. Deleting my post from "Who's Who" defeats the purpose of that forum. If this thread can only exist in one forum, PLEASE move it to Who's Who so other people who are looking there can hear this story. This is absolutely the last I have to say in public regarding this subject. Anyone wanting to contact me regarding this is asked to do it in a PM. Good day.

Woody - I hope this issue is resolved soon.
As a relative newb here I have certainly seen evidence of who I would NOT buy from as well as some very generous community spirit from multiple members. |

Sorry to hear that you cant come to an amicable solution.
No Worries, just let me know in advance when you want to send me your watch and ill take care of it. If you need my references, I am sure you can find a few here in TRF. Quote:
you are fair and spot on once again.... There are a lot of things that can happen to shipping a watch... it can get magnetize, it can be dropped, banged up etc etc etc... I understand how you feel Woody and given past precedents, its easy to come to a conclusion of dishonesty. However, I believe and concur with Paul that dishonesty is such a strong word. Yes, there was a similar situation in the past. But as a fellow seller, I would also ask for the return of the watch prior to issuing a refund. That I understand Richards position. Like I said before, It is highly unlikely that he will keep the watch and not refund you your money. if that was his intention, he would not have sent a watch in the first place. I understand your fears and concerns and they are valid, but I believe it is highly unlikely because he is not known to be a scammer. I am also weary meeting people face to face. I only meet them in Banks that have armed guards. Even that is not a guarantee of safety. Remember what happen to Gab? (Sorry to pull you into this Bro...) He was in a Bank when the guy took his watch... I believe that Richard is just trying to avoid an escalation or an altercation. What about the 3rd Party? Well I am not sure why he would not agree to 3rd Party. We all know Mike (kilyung) is a stand up guy! Again, I am not siding with either member. Woody, I got your PM and just let me know when you want to send it. No Worries and Merry Christmas to you all...

Woody can speak for himself, as far as your concerned, you are entitled to your opinion like everyone else.

A most excellent idea! You send the watch to him which he holds until he receives the money. Certainly any price or fee you paid will be well worth it. I can not help but believe that he would agree to this. It works for both of you. If he won't agree it is full disclosure and peer pressure time.
