Gotta agree here! DJ's suit all occasions. Especially if your looking at the smooth bezel.

You will scratch the bezel on the DDJII. It will drive you crazy. Buy a watch you won't mind wearing everyday. I got rid of my SS daytona for this reason. Good luck.

First of all, you are already in the right ballpark. So many people jump to a Sub or GMT as their first piece when truthfully a DJII, Explorer, or Explorer II are really all you need. I own both Explorers but I will tell you all you really need is a Datejust. It's versatile, built like a tank like all Rolex models are, and you have your choice of dial color.

I would have to agree with Ravager. I picked myself a DJII 10 days ago being my 1st Rolex I own and I am absolutely in love with it. I know for a fact down the line I will be getting a Sub Date in Black for every day usage. Trust me the DJII you can rock it with casual and formal. It is very versatile.

Best of luck

Explorer II hands down. I was in the same situation as you - the Explorer II is just more of a daily watch.

Congrats!

Sounds like you want the explorer 2. I think the polar explorer 2 would be more versatile dressed up or down but since you like the black dialed and you say you usually dress down so black is the way for you. Try out the polar explorer 2 first before you make your decision. By the way, while the explorer 2 has been associated with McQueen, I've yet to see a pic of him wearing one. He's usually got a sub on. Congrats by the way!
