I never ran Boston - but did the ATL Marathon many times. I was average runner and would have been a 4hr.-ish finisher.

The bombs at finish line went off 4:09 into the race - and one can't forget that the 2012 Boston Marathon average times show the bulk of runners finish between 3:30-4:30...

I have a sinking suspicion this is a home grown whacko, being in close proximity to Waco/OKC. I just hope this wasn't a test run for something bigger, like, say, well, some other event in Boston or someplace else.

Just tragic.

It does seem a complete surprise to Homeland Security - there had been no raised threat level warnings. That could mean a loner with a grudge or some other low level effort like we had with Eric Rudolph.

I so hope that all the victims and their families have good people around to help them through this time of incomprehensible pain.
All my respect and gratitude to first responders, and medical staff in Boston hospitals.

Sad, angry, confused.
So many emotions right now. Mostly angry though.

That's scary. I'm glad there weren't even more casualties.

I am saddened by the news and all the other senseless violence which occurs across the world. I'm afraid to say but as time continues forward I would imagine that other episodes will continue to occur!!!

I had honestly hoped (and believed) we wouldn't see another large scale, coordinated attack like this but sadly, I was wrong.

Is this my country's future from now on? It's certainly looking like that today.

My thoughts go out to those in Boston affected by this cowardly act upon innocents. I'll refrain from any further comments until more facts come in and a clearer picture is painted.

Hubby was leaving work at downtown crossing when it all went down. I was working on the 22nd floor at work. Hubby and I had just finished agreeing on after work meet. I got a code disaster page at work and then I lost all contact with the outside world. I was able to get one of the few redline trains still running and met up with hubby and friends. I was able to get a wifi signal and post a message on social media...unfortunately my elderly parents don't do social media and spent the last several hours frantically tryIng to get ahold of us. My older sister lives near them and was finally able to let them know we're ok.

Sadly, all the media coverage on this is probably already encouraging the next evil bomber(s). Terrible day.

Very surreal day. The sound of sirens were inescapable and filled the air for about 5 hours straight.

Was at the wine shop taking care of last minute business before I go on vacation, when a couple of ER nurses I'm friendly with said they're glad I didn't see what they witnessed today, and both started bawling uncontrollably. I was probably in shock most of the day, because while my thoughts were brought back to 9/11 where my good friend's father died on the second plane, I was able to keep a level head. As soon as I got into the privacy of my own home though, that changed and I immediately started to break down. Been home a few hours now and I'm hoping I will tire myself out enough to asleep soon.

I'm thankful the death toll wasn't any higher.

Incomprehensibly senseless and sickening.

My heart goes out to all the innocent people affected.

May the gutless lowlife perpetrator(s) be met with the full force of justice and then some.

Those who perpetrated this aren't 'men', they're cowardly animals.
