I've just been doing some calculations based on the extra money I put down on top of my SS Daytona. If I hadn't purchased the full YG Daytona, I could have kept my SS one and used the money to buy a further 3 SS Rolex watches of my choice or two TT GMT2/SubC's.

Had I gone down that route, I would have my SS SubC, kept my SS Black Daytona and I would have probably added a brand new SS GMT2, SS SubC LV or ND and a maybe a DJ2. That would be 5 VERY nice watches, but I still would not be as happy as I am now.

I have decided to keep my SS SubC as it compliments the gold Daytona very well. I have always said that I don't want more than 2 watches and I think these two make the perfect pair. In retrospect, I feel sort of sad that I have purchased my Grail, basically because I have nowhere else to go except perhaps upgrade my SubC to WG or maybe replace it with that awesome WG Meteorite Daytona?

I agree Dan. You have a nice combo there. I have a SS Sub-C and a SS Daytona black dial on the way. This will be my 4th SS Daytona. Hopefully I hold onto this one

Thank you, it was a pleasure! And yes, I will be looking for a YG DD or YG 36mm DJ for my wife at some point but I need to recover a bit first. She keeps telling me she is happy with her current one and doesn't want to change it (SS/WG 36mm DJ with diamond dial) so I guess I'll have to surprise her one day!

RRP was £26,350 but I got a 15% discount as a returning customer. If I took the window/display one I'm sure I could have got more but this was ordered direct from the Kent warehouse and arrived in factory packaging so I was the first person to touch it besides Rolex. It took only 5 days to arrive.

Quality over quantity for me too. Looks like youll be planning to get the WG Sub then, I find half the fun is in the hunt and the anticipation so would be quite a shame for me if I had all the watches I could want.

Hi Dan is that dial only available with diamonds and the gold numerals at 15/30/45 or is it available with full numbers with lume? Or full diamonds instead of the 15/30/45 gold markers ?

I know what you mean, the enjoyment and anticipation of searching is almost as thrilling as the eventual purchase. I considered pretty much every watch and each time, in my mind at least, I experienced a little of each one.

Sorry, it's not available in any other form. There is not enough space for diamonds at the 3/6/9 markers hence they used the Arabics. You need to see one in person, they really are perfect as they are. The first one I saw was TT and it still looked awesome!

It might look busy or hard to read but as I said about my SS Black, you get used to the Daytona very quickly and pretty soon, you can tell time just as fast and easily as any other watch. It's like you can look past the bling/confusion when you want to and just see the time.

Those little gold dials are alive right? It's like they're on fire!
Pictures can't seem to capture it.

My opinion? Keep the sub and sell the Daytona. Add some cash and get the YG Daytona on strap or bracelet pre owned.

Now you have one daily wearer and one special occasion/ weekend watch.

yeah, good advice

Once the fire starts it's often hard to put out. The ultimate Daytona!
