WOW!! Just wow.
I actually live close to that area. Don't want to give the exact neighborhood on the web. I'm wearing my Deepsea on a rubber b right now and it goes mostly unnoticed except on buses. My GMT2c is a huge eye magnet, don't wear that as much anymore. As much as people talk about its safe everywhere, it just goes to show.....that neighborhood has expensive bars, shops, and restaurants and police all around, plus it's always busy with locals and tourist alike. I'm pretty comfy wearing my DS but at no point am I I relaxed. Thank God you're okay and thx for the report on the area. If you would have posted before hand is it safe to wear your watch in that very same area many would have jumped in on the sarcasm bandwagon that's its safe in BA. As far as I'm concerned it isn't really safe anywhere. Take care everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free |

The level of desperation out there and displays of brazen depravity like this are just stunning. I like to think that I'm streetwise and always aware of my situation and surroundings. I 'm also usually armed to some extent depending on the circumstances and ready to defend myself and/or my family. It's not always that easy however, especially when it comes to dealing with professional criminals who have developed the art of attack to a science and wouldn't hesitate to stick a knife in your side if they even sense resistance. It's a tricky and dangerous choice (whether to fight or not). The easiest and safest course is to not make oneself an obvious target. That's where Casio or G-shock comes in handy while saving the bling for private get togethers, or occasions where you're at least insulated from the public.
Regardless, I'm sorry to hear your AK was stolen, but I'm very happy to hear that you're alive and well! Cheers! |

A terrible story indeed. So glad you were not hurt. You are a strong chap for not letting this sway your attitude. Hope you can replace it sometime in the near future.

Sorry this happened to you. Thanks for telling us. It's a reminder that our passion for fine watches may make us targets of opportunity for thieves...and they can be found anywhere.
A relative of mine, riding a crowded NYC subway in the 1950s, had his Patek Phillipe cut off from his wrist. He never felt a thing. The muggers who hit you were obviously skilled predators, with lots of practice. Fortunately, you were unharmed physically. Hope your watch is recovered...but, if it isn't, perhaps consider that it satisfied their greed and that this help protect you from further loss or harm. All the best... |

Sorry for your loss! However you have a big heart and still talk about the warmth and kindness of the people. Right on! You should be commended for your spirit. I hope one day your kindness is returned.

What a bunch of scumbags! Although it probably does little to take away the sting of the lost AK, as many have said, at least you have your health.
