We are going to benefit from this cause demand will be higher, exclusivity bigger, prices will be higher and those that have a pretty big collection are going to see the value of their watches going up

I think that this is a necessary evil just my humble opinion
maybe this would be better as it's own thread so i'll just say this. i agree with what you're saying to a point. when you say "we" are going to benefit, i'm assuming you mean those of us that already own the watches. true, that's good for us. however, i'm thinking about the other guy. unless rolex is trying to position itself as an exclusive high end watch similar to pp, vc or ap, which i don't they are trying to do, the other side of the coin is that they create a barrier to entry for many.

I know this is unfair for people that want to buy watches and this includes me too. I agree with you on that but this is how business is done or i could be wrong

The only think for sure is that they are trying to create a barrier

Interesting, I see it too.

Its clearly a time lapse bezel so I'm sure that either the Sub or SD will get an update and/or a new look. I can't wait for Basel!!!!! Its only less than four days away now!!

Also, the release of a new model might usually signify that there may be yet another price increase by early next year....

I too noticed that the bezel looks like the thicker bezel on the SD.

Only things is, someone mentioned here that it would be white-gold SD. I don't think white-gold being used on a "tool" watch would make it very sturdy for a 4000ft diving watch.

White-gold on a Submariner yes, seeing as the depth-rating is lower and they already have the yellow-gold Sub.

Question is, does Rolex want to sell a lot of these things or not? The yellow-gold Subs go for $25,000. Seeing as the YM II that was released in 2007 is going for $45,000, I can only imagine what a white-gold Sub/SD would go for.

Well for sure if that watch did come out, its gonna be priced in between the $25,000 and the $45,000 marks that you mentioned.

Here's my two bobs worth on this:

Rolex will reveal more each day nearer.

The bezel currently appears sans color. This may come in later.

The '40' is embossed. This would indicate a ceramic bezel, or, a platinum like the YM, but I am rather favoring the ceramic. Certainly not WG or Ti. Did I say Ti?

I would say it is an updated Submariner.

The ensuing revelations will give it a way if we can see the crystal height.

I can agree with the roulette wheel bezel theory. The dark areas will come to light soon.

Cheers
Steve

Interesting ideas Steve! I will definitely keep them in mind as we get closer to Basel.

Cheers!

Now that I had visited the Rolex site, I agree. Good catch there STB.

Interestingly, if you position your mouse over the area, you will see the ceramic bezel.

If the price is close the GMTII-C, then I'll surely get one.

A Blue TT Sub....will be perfect.

Haha, yes!! "Grab" the phosphorous "lights" with your mouse and light up the bezel.

If you stay on the page long enough, a white "cloud" appears and inside the cloud is a single RED dot... could this be the return of the red Sub?

As stated earlier by others, it seems that more and more of the watch is revealed as time goes by. Wonder if there's a way to hack the video to get the watch to strip down so we can see all it's goodies.

Ceramic Sub, Lead the lighted dots to the 20 and look for the Cyclops. Definately not a SD.
