No, it is not a misprint....

No, it does not demonstrate that it has a 3186 movement.

No, it is not worth more at present......nobody can predict the future.

However, it is one of the finest watch Rolex has ever produced...

I own a PEPSI (SS) GMT-II bought in September of 2007. The serial# is Z77xxxx and received the new manual. I have no idea as to which movement is in the watch. So I'm going to have to take it to an AD and have the back removed. I live in the Chicago area can someone tell me of a jeweler I can take to to find out? My Rolex dealer doesn't provide this service.

I'm pretty confident that yours is 3185.
try the wiggle test mentioned and don't need to spend money to open the back

Apparently the 3186 has been added after Z9xxxxx serial.

Check the second hour hand and minute it should move/wiggle a bit more on the GMT 16710 with a 3185.

By the way there are three different fonts on the dial(for the II);Roman numerals, stick and rectangular. MY GMT has the rectangular font so the plot thickens!!!

And what will you do if its a 3185 or 3186 the 3186 is only a slightly modded 3185 and nothing of any real significance. The only difference slightly more precise time zone adjustment on 3186 but both movements are tested to the exactly the same standard COSC test.Just cannot see any point of taking the back of watch then to have it pressure tested if any watch is running without fault.

Why would Rolex need to secretly change the II numerals in order to track 'test watches'? Sounds silly to me. Certainly this could be done by serial number as opposed to changing the numerals. Plus I would think new movements are thoroughly tested long before they hit market.

I've got a Z with the non-roman numeral IIs, so maybe I got a golden ticket?
Movement # should be listed on the paperwork they gave you.

my m-series 16710 has the 3186 and normal II marking
my buddy has a z-series with 3185 and || (stick) markings

i have no proof, but IMO, i think the stick v. roman means nothing at all.

100% correct just a simple different font like the many Rolex has used over the many years.

Indeed my D series had a 3185 and stick and my current one has the 3186 and Romans.

As Tempo says, the only true way to tell is to open the case. Just like with the replica's, once the case is opened the truth is set free!

I know where one is located. The owner of a Rolex dealer near me said he "set one aside" and put it in the safe. He didn't say it was for sale, but he didn't say he wouldn't sell it.
