Chaps

The OP should insist that the other chap agrees to have his ankle attached to a ball and chain.

I took my transaction to my local AD who verified my Rolex and checked it over. He cheekily asked me how much I paid and agreed I had made a very good deal. Gave me his card in case I need more info. Northern Goldsmiths are to be commended.

Walk away if the deal doesn't sound right. That's my take.
Neutral grounds should always be prefered.
But there's never a totally safe place.

I can think of a reason that my bank would want to help.
Something about the deposit...
And my balance...
As for if I was buying, you can't fake a wire you make in person with the other person standing there giving you the account info.
It's a cash transaction. Banks have some experience in these matters. ;)
I am told that I have some personal banker to help me with my needs, this kind of thing seems like a reason to call him up.

That sounds about as safe as your bank.

Put yourself in his shoes he's meeting you somewhere and you expect him to hand over Witch I'm assuming would be thousands of dollars to you a stranger, for a watch that he is not allowed to look at or touch before buying... How does he know if it's real.. Would you buy a rolex without the seller letting you look at it

Yes. It usually is very funny when you come at someone with a cat slinging cross bow.

People seem to get into a tizzy about certain things here.... Remember it's an international website with people from all different countries where they do not have the same rights or openness about certain things.

^^^ this ^^^

OP- Of course you let the buyer try it on,... which is exactly what you would expect if you were the buyer. If I met a seller and the person wouldn't let me touch the watch or try it one, they would be reimbursing me for the waste of time.

Why would Banks, AD's and police stations want to get involved in your watch, car or other pricey transaction sales in their lobby no less. Highly unlikely IMHO.

IMHO, if you are not prepared to let someone try on the watch you are not prepared and/or capable of making a deal like this. Go to a store front, make the deal and take the beating...

I've meet countless people at Starbucks for countless transactions. I make sure we communicate via text and/or phone calls so I have a good contact number and after that "it is what it is".....

Using your logic, why bother with Starbucks and not an abandoned building or alley?

The fact is that if I am doing a face-to-face deal at a bank or police station, they are natural deterrents for a thief because of armed guards and video. If the thief still goes through with it, I m not hoping someone jumps in to help, even though the odds are very high that they would, rather that the crime is caught on video.

Last one I bought we met at this business office for me to inspect the watch. His office was fairly secure as well. I was already sure of the authenticity of the piece, so I didn't need an AD to verify. We agreed to meet again at his bank inside a private transaction room. I provided cash so it could be verified by the bank and immediately deposited into his account. Once done he gave me the watch. No worries on that transaction at all. Both parties have to be assured and comfortable.
