So sorry for your loss Things like this lead some people to the " don't buy over the internet " thing. I can safely say that I have bought and sold over the Internet many things including watches. I have only had two bad experiences. Both from purchasers who did not read and did not follow instructions. Both had buyers remorse. The bay sustained my position on both.

This is bad, but even worse would letting this scum get away with it and do it to someone else. Stay strong.

Sorry to hear this....I know EXACTLY how you feel. It happened to me a few years ago in a similar scenario.

The feeling of "feeling stupid" is the worst, even moreso than loosing a couple k. Even when I think about it now, that feeling hurts.

I know you think I've been hard on counterfeiters, scammers, and/or sellers of questionable watches but seriously fuck them they are predatory scum. I doubt these guys are giving it to the poor or whatever. I wish you the best and hope you get this resolved.

All morning filling out police reports and dealing with the bank.

Fortunately, sounds as if the bank wire transaction may be retractable. And the guy left enough "digital fingerprints" that the investigators have some real leads. From the police perspective, depends on if there's enough juice to give it the squeeze on whether or not they will pursue an active investigation. I just hope they nail the guy.

Well, that's at least some encouraging news. I sure hope that the bank returns your money and that law enforcement has enough evidence to nail this guy.

I still say don't buy off the internet unless you know the seller personally or they are a bona fide retail business.

Very sorry about what happened. Stuff like this makes me ill to my stomach. You cannot trust anything anymore.

Someone once tried to scam me on an item I sold. I was diligent and had all my ducks in a row. In the end I recovered all of my money, so it can be done. Stay calm and keep in contact with your law enforcement & bank contacts. After going through this ordeal I changed the way I do business on the internet and instituted a few non-negotiable processes.

Only do business with buyers/sellers located in the USA.
Only do business with people that have verifiable references.
I require a picture of the other parties driver license placed on top of the days newspaper which clearly shows the date.
I Require a telephone conversation.
In person deals will be conducted at an AD or at a location that provides a margin of safety. For example I once sold a high end audio amplifier and the deal was done in the lobby of a police station.
Every bill must be tested with a counterfeit detection pen.

Sorry to hear.

Not to be a wise guy but - - I still don't get the trusted seller thing - seems like that has become a dominant part of this board since I joined 7 some odd years ago.

Well worth the 5% or 10% more to buy new, from an AD and have no issues with warranty ownership or the transaction itself.

Hope this gets sorted for you. Has anyone highlighted this scumbag to the REAL Charles yet? I am sure he would be interested in knowing his name is being dragged through the mud.
