This is all you can ask for at this point in time. I never ever let anyone but Rik touch any of my watches. Many years ago I saw a AD man handle my Rolex for a "complementary" cleaning. He tried to torque down on the crown with all his might to tighten it. Never again.

Agree that's a good result.

I had a guy pull the crown off my tag link while changing the battery some 10 years ago. When I came to pick it up, he rushed me through checkout and the watch was in a plastic bag.

When I got to the car, I noticed the crown was unscrewed, and worse just sitting on the tube as he'd tried reattach it.

I went back in and had a heated argument with the young guy and then the owner. They refused to pay and called me a liar, today's GB-man would have sued them in small claims. I moved on with my life and footed the bill.

I had an AD swap a bracelet for me once. When I collected the watch it had been installed back to front!

In their apologetic rush to rectify the mistake, they scratched the case with the spring bar tool. Yes, i was annoyed but it wasn't the end of the world. The watch was a LN ceramic GMT and I'd only had it a month, but I intend keeping this watch as a daily wearer for many years to come and I've already moved on from the little mark they made by mistake.

What is concerning for your friend, is that even with the marks removed, it sounds like he will feel like the watch has been damaged/repaired and may never move on from it.
Sometimes you just got to let it go. But I hope they fix it for him. I'm sure they will.

Talk about amateur hour. That's why I wouldn't trust my watches to anyone but RSC. Good luck getting this issue resolved. Perhaps your friend should demand a replacement bracelet at a minimum.

It all started all with the small scratch on the clasp. To remove the scratch from the clasp they removed the bracelet form the watch. During this process, they scratched the lugs.

After the first take on polishing the clasp they created the smudge. Then he went back to remove the smudge. So they polished the clasp twice without success. Now they say, polishing it 3 times is to much and to much of metal is getting polished off so they will install new clasp for him and the rest will be done with the laser.

If even a small scratch was too much for your friend I think he will never enjoy wearing a Rolex watch as he will always be scared for new scratches.

Wouldn't have anything done to the case at the moment - watch is too new - but it adds to the argument of replace the bracelet for no, or minimal, cost.

This exact sent happened to me a while back with my Sub C, that's exactly what it looks to be from. These spring bars fit in so tight that they push with such force to cause this.

On another note, I'd go back and raise hell. I would make such a huge deal about this! I would not take this lightly if a so called "proffessional" did this to my new Rolex. Sounds like he sent it in to look better and came out looking worse... Not acceptable.
