Everything you said points to a person who banks his life on diplomas hanging on the wall of his very stuffy office and looks down at self made milionaires. Many of us come from ethnic backgrounds, for example my father who came from Italy when he was 17yrs old with his first ever pair of new shoes for the trip. With very hard work and determination bottled with massive amounts of sacrifice, he has become very succesful. I don't necessarily agree with that member's post either, but I don't like ostentatious displays of wealth. Sure, it's your money, you earned it, you can do whatever you want with it. But that doesn't make it classy or tasteful. As they say, you can't buy taste.

As bad as his post was overall, I'd agree that watches and jewelry don't change someone's social status.

Some watch companies have suggested the opposite (i.e. Patek saying "begin your own tradition"). In my opinion, these ads are misleading.

I agree 100%. I have a lot of big gold and sometimes I wear it depends on my mood and where I am going. But to tell people they shouldn't wear gold is wrong. Wear what you want.

Less is definitely more. However, I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing jewelry to an extent. For example on my left hand I wear my ring and my watch, and on my right I'll sometimes wear a bracelet or two. I would love to own a Cartier Love bracelet. I know they're "overpriced", but so is a Rolex. =-)

Yeah I'd go with a Cartier Juste un Clou bracelet, same disclaimer applies.

What's wrong with men wearing jewelry? I wear a gold chain given to me by my grandparents, my wedding band with diamonds from my wife, and (occasionally) a gold bracelet given to me by my mother. All pieces I cherish, wear and will keep forever. I also love wearing a touch of handmade leather, or beads with my watches. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I know thousands of watch guys who wear leather and beads everyday... And it looks great. Go to other countries like Italy, Greece, the whole Middle East, Asia, Puerto Mexico, India etc etc... It's the normal...

This also comes down to style. It doesn't make sense for some guys...I'm sure some guys still wear cargo shorts, I would never wear cargo shorts. We can go back and forth about these topics, everyone is a different age with a different style!

Point is, wear what you want. Not because it's "Cool" but because you enjoy it. Not everyone can pull it off... Doesn't mean men shouldn't 😉
