True, but since we are talking about price hikes / spikes, I paid about $5,800 for my new Kermit LV in 2009 from an AD, now I see NOS ones being sold (or at least asked) at 13k to 14K plus... And the Hulk LV is still in production, however, it's cheaper than the kermit in most cases...

So who knows where the SD4K will end up...

I don't think it will end after 1 year, but I do think the all white text will be introduced along with it. Then perhaps the red text ended after a few years.

A 1 year only run of the red would drive grey market prices of that watch up tremendously.

The £6k I spent on a SD4K in March looks similarly good.

Sometime the stars align, found one at my local AD. Good thing he and I go back aways. Started with my Kermit in 05...

I still have reservations about selling my unworn SD4K.

I'd rather take the $$ and use it toward an SD43 or new skydweller during my trip next month. I don't like having a watch and keeping it in a safe.

I managed to get mine lightly worn for £5200 when nobody wanted them. Good move now it would seem, but ultimately I bought it because I love the watch.

You could find brand new ones 3 months ago for $7500. I was super close to pulling the trigger and wish I would have on every single one I saw. I'm really hoping this SD4K price spike is only temporary. I understand it's discontinued but still, this model was ALWAYS available at ADs. Seems as if nobody wanted to purchase. Haven't been around the Rolex game that long, but have never seen a watch get such an incredible price jump within a mere months.

I think we need to re-evaluate at the beginning of next year. This will give a good idea where the SD43 price (I'm guessing easily at retail, even on discount) and the SD4k price will be sitting 'long term'.

I think it was always underrated. In the U.K. they never dropped as low as you mention brand new but they were one of the few SS models where a discount was available.

I think most saw the Sub C as the one to buy also being cheaper and arguably more iconic as a Rolex.

I think the average buyer could never justify the extra $2000.

Sea dweller 116600 price rocket?

People always want what they can't have
Daytona was a poor seller when it came out now look at it

I'm not saying sd4k will become the next Daytona but for some reason now people want it because it's discontinued only after a short period of time

116520 has not had a bad increase in 12 months. Bought mine for £6,900 last year before the 116500 was announced. What's it worth now? £11,000?

Was it one member that made a price statistics of different Rolex models for sale?
Maybe he can update on 116600?

Sd 16600 has also climbed up in price. It is a chain reaction.

I visited one of the local ADs today and they had the Deepsea black, plenty of Subs but no 116660 or 126660. They had access to one and could have brought the 116660 it in same day, but they said the supply had dried up with no more on order.

I passed on one a year ago - too thick to be a comfortable wear. My money's doing far better than this watch will in a stocks ISA. It's a mass-produced Rolex.
