I am really interested in the different grades of sticker condition and how it affects the purchase..
So a marred sticker that prevented damage to the actual watch, but in itself has some damage, is grounds for rejecting a watch? I am absolutely fascinated by this and would love a further explanation as to why this is a thing to worry about. No judgement, I just am worried that I'm not concerned about the sticker condition when perhaps I should be... |

Let's not forget the most important part: Bezel Protector.

I'm missing some stickers, what is a fair price for clasp stickers?

Maybe the stickers should have stickers to protect them? Problem solved....but then....

I purchased my first Submariner from David (in person) after a poor experience at my local AD. David treated me as the AD should have, while providing me with the SAME brand new product with my name on the warranty card. He took the time to explain everything, sized the watch for me and removed the stickers in front of me.
In my opinion, aside from an AD receipt, the product I received was identical. The price and experience were much better. I have since randomly ran into him a few times, and he is always friendly. I have also reached out to him for assistance with another watch I did not purchase from him. He went above and beyond to assist me. Know that if you deal with David, you are dealing with the best. |

I think laser etched stickers would be a good idea So as to avoid fake stickers.

Not saying anyone is right or wrong. Certainly not advocating on any particular way to make a purchase.
But if someone is spending many thousands of dollars they have the right to have certain expectations without facing ridicule. To each their own.

Actually yes. You can tell based on the condition of the Bracelet clasp sticker whether it was worn. In my case it was very clearly worn for a period of time with the stickers on the clasp still in place. Big enough of a deal to send back, no but not in unworn condition.

Imagine if anyone tried the same shenanigans in a luxury car dealership. I'll drop $130k on that S-class but if it's delivered without the plastic shipping stickers then the deal's off? I'm pretty sure the dealer could do without my business. Quite honestly, I'm impressed that DavidSW is even willing to cater to this. It's a watch for goodness sake. Unless it's being purchased for some other purpose than to be worn, perhaps some personal shrine to 21st century horology, it seems like an awful lot of hullabaloo over nothing. But as you said, to each his own... |

I guess for me it comes down to what is represented and what a buyer receives. If something is presented as "unworn/stickers in place", that should be the case. If I purchased a watch presented as such and it arrived with stickers peeling and some missing or showing scratches that would otherwise been on the watch itself, I would return it. This condition is not "unworn/stickers in place" and I would not pay the premium over a known used watch.

It's a watch. Sure. But it's years of saving for many. Myself included first time I bought a Rolex. Not sure ridicule is fair.

And just to add a little bit. Of course David has to cater to this. It's his business to deal with anything and everything. And it's why he's so successful. Because he handles himself like a pro every time.

From him I'd assume it's like new. Just check him out on the who's who section. I've bought several from him.

Some people (not referring to OP or any particular person) want to pay gray market prices and also enjoy an AD level of attention... I'm not sure if this is a reasonable expectation. For what it's worth, I ordered an AP from DavidSW -- shipped quickly, and he did thank me for my business.

My complaint was not about stickers it was about scratches on all 4 lugs of my watch from bracelet removal on a watch listed as unworn stickered and assumed new with no defects. The pictures of the watch on the site were not the watch that was sent it was the correct watch yes but not the pictured watch. But it seems we have come to a resolution of sorts. This does not stop me from buying from DSW in the future or recommending to others. I will just ask more questions about the watch instead of just assuming.
