To laser weld that dent and reshape it should only be a few hundred bucks or less.

Got a very similar battle scar in my beloved sd. Keep wearing it...it'll fade way, hardly noticeable anymore.

That's a bummer. Is it insured where you may be able to replace for a new one?

Put it on your wrist.
Look at the time. Put phone near your eyes and take picture of watch while looking at the time. Post here. We will decide if you can live with it. |

Swallow the pill my friend, surely it hurts if you are one to be bothered with scratches and dings but I personally wouldn't want to do any polishing or laser welding, let alone replacing the case for a dent near the caseback. Keep in mind that you are lucky, the movement does not seem to have been damaged or affected by the hit.
...Then again, who am I to give advice? I buy my watches with many of these on them already.

OCD alert!!!! I would HAVE to sell it if it were me! I've sold watches in the past for much less damage than that.

For those that say the story, what story? "I dropped it on my floor."
I don't really consider that a good story. Curious about the laser welding, say you did this and then needed the watch serviced, would Rolex still honor the warranty? If it was out of warranty, would they service it anyways? & the neurotic obsession guy, get over yourself, watch costs almost $10k. Sounds like a guy driving around for 2 months with saran wrap over a broken window. |

Sorry and pleased to say that at least the ceramic withstood the drop!
I would have thought that a fall from that level would have cracked the bezel. Let it stay. Battle scar(s) cheers |

Well, there are multiple solutions for you, but i see 2 major solutions:
- stay upset about it and buy another one/or get it repaired - get over it and wear it In other words, the basic idea is: you adapt the watch to you, that is the first solution, or the second: you adapt your attitude towards your watch. It May seem tempting to change the watch BUT I'm abolutely convinced that you should go for the second solution. You really need to change your opinion towards the watch. After all you buy a tool-watch, with shock absorbing technology etc... And when it finally does what it is intended for, that means surviving a drop for example, you are going to change the watch? That doesnt make Sense, that means that this kinda watch is not for you. (With all my respect). So the second solution is more sustainable in the long term. In fact it will change your life!! If you learn to accept it will place everything in another perspective. So don't sell the watch, but see it as an opportunity to get rid of a too materialistic attitude towards a piece of metal!! Imho |

On a more serious note, leave it alone. |

Entirely unnecessary. Rik made an identical dent in an identical spot on my Explorer pretty much disappear in less than two minutes, and for a grand total of $40. He probably would have taken less, but I didn't feel comfortable giving him anything less given the amazing magic trick he'd just performed on my watch.

I did similar damage to my IWC Pilot Chrono and had a laser weld repair done. If the US guy is good, I'd get it repaired.

That’s what I was thinking. The dent is against your wrist so it’s pretty well hidden when it matters.

Just curious to those saying to leave it be... is there something wrong in having it laser welded or massaged out like others have mentioned? For a few dollars sure seems like people have had good results. Really just asking what the downside is to repairing.

After seeing a few of these posts now... definitely makes me super cautious when handling my watch over tile. Sorry OP, like some have said keep us posted on what you decide. If it was me an bothers me enough, I think I would have to give one of the repairs a shot.

Accidents like this is the reason I pay $100/year to insure it. It's cheap peace of mind for me if something were to happen to it.

There is nothing wrong with it at all, it's about the attitude towards the watch. There is nothing wrong with taking Care of your watch. But there is imho something wrong with going beyond this. It is what it is, a watch, only a watch. A very nice watch though, but still a watch. But it's not me who sets the standards in this world. I just think that matrialism is a sign of our continuous capitalistic system. And i don't think that it's a good evolution. I don't baby my watches, but that's why i have subs and explorers and no YGDD .
