My theory is, people start threads whining about AD wait times because then they can whine about it for months or years, though they have no intention of actually buying one.
Go back to sleep. Its 2018. TS selling an sd43 for cheaper than AD??!!

LOL.

Trusted sellers are long gone. Trusted scalpers only now and thats ok. Business is business.

With all due respect I think you’re being a little harsh by using the term “trusted scalper”. They’re not guilty of doing anything but capitalizing on a hot watch market. Did you ever think they were doing anything else but trying their best to turn a profit? Do you have a job? Don’t you go to work each day trying to maximize your time at work? Why shouldn’t they have that right? If you want to blame someone blame the brands that have fueled the gray market by creating an imbalance of supply/demand.

Is scalper a harsh term?

You imply that its derogatory. Scalpers have been around forever.

I am just calling it what it has become. Like i said. Business is business.

ADs are the cheaper avenue these days by far if some can exhibit a little patience

Agree. If/when supply catches up to demand, TS prices will fall below MSRP again.

Update: while my original plan was to purchase the SD43, my local AD had a DBlue arrive on Saturday. I went in and swooped it up...maybe I’ll add the SD43 at a later date, maybe not.

Seems that Rolex is drying up all professional series stock by intention to make the grey market disappear.
Also, I believe Rolex wants to minimize the percentage of total units sold in this series to place more emphasis on other models.

Would you call one of these people a Trusted Scalper to their face? If you ran into one at the bar would you say, “oh you’re one of those trusted scalpers on TRF!”

If you wouldn’t it’s because it is derogatory.

If that is their intention I can tell you it is having the opposite effect. Right now it seems like the greys are the ONLY folks able to get professional models. I finally gave up on my quest to get an SD43 from an AD and went to a trusted seller. One month later, still no calls from the six waiting lists I'm on...

Rolex knows what they are doing.
To think otherwise is naive.
Give this time and all will sort itself out.

We can agree to disagree. Ticket reseller-ticket scalper. Same thing.

Yes I would because a scalpers a scalper a scalper.

Scalper
Someone who purchases large quantities of goods (usually tickets) early with the sole intention of re-selling them at a higher price at a later date (closer to the event).

If you buy one from a TS, is the warranty card blank - and therefore able to be in your name - or is it in the TS name as the original purchaser?

To my surprise, I recently received a call from my local ad advising if i would like to be on the waiting list. The list is only 20 odd persons but they have only receieved 1 sd43 this year.

If you really want an SD43 then buying something else just because it's available would be crazy.
It will always be deemed second best and you may even end up resenting it which would be a real shame.

The SD43 is as rare as hens teeth in the UK.

I put my name down at the 3 AD’s I have previously bought new Rolex watches from when the SD43 was released; they all told me it would be atleast a years wait. I was ok with that and sat back and waited; more then happy to buy all 3 if required.

Almost 1 year on and I was informed last month that it will probably be another year before I see a watch - if they are still being made.

Subsequently, I engaged with a Trusted Seller from this fine site and a lovely SD43 arrived at my home in Scotland (the last country God made before he began making mistakes ) less then a week later.

I couldn’t be happier and will still buy the other 3 (I think they are going to be worth a bit of money in the future) if and when they become available - but I am not going to hold my breath as the UK appears to be pretty low on the list to receive these items from Rolex at this time.

Anyone who really wants one can do a lot worse than buying one from this great place.

Agree. I was in the same situation. Waiting on an SD43 and my AD got a Deep Blue in stock. I took a look at it. Although it is an amazing watch, it wasn't what I wanted. Held out and finally picked up the SD from a TS and couldn't be happier. The SD43 is a truly special watch.

SD43-126600 Waitlist Timeframe?

I just picked up a SD43 from a trusted seller and when I took it to a big AD in the wash dc area to get it sized he told me I was lucky to get it, that they only received 3 since Basel last year.

The cool thing is even the SD43 is a rare beautiful and desirable watch but few know about it unlike the popular SS Daytona, this helps keeping the price on 2nd hand market very reasonable for now.

I had a similar experience. Bought from a trusted seller here after being #3 on my AD's list for like 9 months. Took it in there to get a link moved and it was like I was a celebrity. The called everyone over to see it. The security guard came over to look. This was a Rolex AD who clearly had virtually never seen an SD43 in the flesh. They say they've gotten a couple but I'm sure they never made the case. Strange times we live in!
