Rolex sent my AD some pre release photos of the new 126610LV.

I think we should name it after a comic book hero. Shrek is green. Shall we call it the Shrek?

P.s. you didn't see it here. My AD will get in a lot of trouble for divulging Rolex secrets.

Thanks OP for the good nature of your post, unfortunately there have been a lot of misguided truths/utter lies spoken by ADs that are presented on TRF so that’s where everyone is coming from.

Haha, this is honestly just laughable at this point.

First we had an onslaught of ‘BLNR WILL BE DISCONTINUED’ threads.....now we will have to deal with the ‘BLNR IS INEVITABLY GETTING UPGRADED’ threads?

Make it stopppppp

I just picked up a BLNR last month -- was mainly to commemorate a milestone, so I didn't want to wait. I may sound like the sucker trying to justify my purchase (if this ends up being true) but I don't regret it at all. It's not the easiest watch to get a hold of today and I wanted one. The prospect of it getting a new movement (upon announcement of the new GMTs) didn't make me pause and think I should wait for them to potentially update the model. I don't view watches like phones where I need to have the latest and greatest specs in it every time a new one is released. I also don't view this watch as an investment vehicle -- but it's pretty cool to know I was able to get my hands on the "original" reference BLNR if it is here to stay for awhile through future updates.

In any case there will always be a newer movement coming. Question is when. So do we keep on waiting. I say don’t worry about all this talk of new stuff. Live in the now and just get what you like and available now.

And OP the guys here are cynics because they’ve seen this kinda thing for a while. Best to have an open mind and soak up all the info and knowledge you can get here.

What's the difference in the movement? Is it simply the paraflex shock?

The difference is the Chronergy escapement and 70-hour power reserve, I believe.

The escapement and ceramic rotor bearing are the main updates. The 3186/3187 already have the Parachrom Bleu hairspring. Paraflex replaced KIF over a decade back.

My lowly 3186 holds an awful +0.5 sec per two weeks or +1 sec per month regulation. Power reserve is about 53.5 hours when I ran it on the meter. It's utterly pathetic.

I don't think 3186 has Paraflex.

Yet I think it does have the Parachrom.

BTW, yes that is pathetic performance. How can you ever be on time?

You're right, I was thinking 3187. Apparently I'm getting old.

Sounds terrible!

You need the updated movement in the BLNR! If only to give your life some semblance of meaning!

I like new stuff and technology but honestly, I have a hard time getting excited about “new” movements. Longer power reserves are nice, I’ll admit that but other improvements are lost on me.

I suppose one could call it a rumor (and even that is a bit pejorative), but rumors != fake news.

They're all cursed. No "my AD said" thread survived very long on any forum. It's just the nature of the beast.

Look on the bright side. On the topic of movement upgrades in the GMT, your AD will prove correct eventually.

"It's just the nature of the beast."

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I'll now think twice before posting any information from an AD.

Maybe one day the mods will decide to post a Sticky that discourages posts about Rolex news from ADs. Some have also suggested they create a sub-forum (though I'm not sure if they're being sarcastic). Until then, it's only a matter of time until the next unsuspecting member gets burned at the stake.

Hello Neighbor! There are only 3 ADs here in MN. May I ask which one said this?

Thanks!

You Might Want to Wait on That Batman

This is fun to read. The question is a bit ridiculous given the high demand BLNR market and the very minor tweak to the 3186 to make the 3285 movement.

First, they are basically the same movement with the 85 having a larger power reserve but really who needs more than 50hrs of reserve anyway? If my watch is off the wrist more than 10hrs, sitting idle it will be off for a good week or two at the very least. 10-15% improvement of accuracy??? Really??? I would take the proven reliability of the 3186 over the new but unproven 3285 any day. You never know if any issues would pop up in a new design regardless of how minor the change. I know, I know, slim chance it has issues but you never know.

But let’s not pretend that people who want one of these timepieces are not getting one because of the CHANCE it will house the “revolutionary” 3285 movement and their “old” BLNRs value might drop like a new RV driven off the lot. It’s not. It’s a high demand, hard to find piece that requires a premium price to be paid outside ADs. Period. That’s how it is now and will be even if the new movement is chosen.

Or maybe I don’t know what the hell I’m talking about and I should sell my 2 day old BLNR to the highest bidder and just “wait it out”.

Nah! What’s the fun in THAT!?!?!?
