I pull my phone out to snap a pic of the time on my Rolex.

You boast that you bought a $38k watch, but prefer to use your phone.

I don't mean any disrespect but this is right up there with the most ridiculous things I've heard.

It's like 10 times faster to look at my wrist then dig in my pocket, especially with short sleeves on.

It's like we're being trolled, sorry.
I'm sounding like a troll? you say I prefer my phone which I have never said I prefer my Watch. I admit earlier that I have made a bad habit out of checking my phone.

I didn't boast about anything, Rolex watches are expensive it doesn't make sense to boast on a ROLEX forum where I should expect mostly veryone to have a Rolex which by the way are very expensive pieces.

And if you didn't read the replies a lot of people are saying they check/sometimes check their phones. I already admitted earlier that this was a dumb topic and for a mod to delete it was just trying to get some convos going try to get to know some people but I guess I am too big a noob to this site to realize that this was a bad topic while typing it. I just like Rolex Watches and wanted to talk about them. Wasn't being a troll

Rollie (or whatever’s on the wrist) - nothing beats seeing seconds sweep across the dial

I use my watch for the time, but often find myself staring at it without noticing the time then I have to double check what time it is..

Why would one wear a watch if not to tell time? I know some wear it as a piece of jewelry, but for me, my watch is there to provide the time.

My Rolex. But I also use my phone to verify, or to have a more accurate time when necessary.

You answered your own question. Sometimes if I'm lazy and I grab a watch from the bank I won't even set the time I'll just wear it.

I recommend backing off on the attitude which appears to be very offended. As an observation making conversation over an idiotic topic isn't too bright; I believe you'll agree with that.

I'm curious as to what sort of equipment in an pharmaceutical manufacturing environment can be so imposing as to cause serious risk to a watch. I've been in the semiconductor industry for a number of decades using all sorts of equipment and never once questioned wearing a watch of any sort. With a degree in Chem E., I've been around some pretty heavy equipment (evaporators, distillers, drying equipment, fluidized beds) and not once would I consider not wearing any of my watches.

Now if you were telling me your riveting and driving a jack hammer than I could understand. I'd love to understand more fully why the watch would be in exceptional peril?

There are folks on the forum who wear very expensive watches for auto mechanics and racing; the Platona is very scratched up all of which can be recovered at a normal service.

I guess it all depends on how much importance you place on the watches pristine condition. At any rate, have a great holiday.

FWIW, work attire seen below...

I can assure you that I don't have an attitude and I don't know why you're assuming this? you said a few things and I've replied? am I not supposed to reply?

And then you said "There are folks on the forum who wear very expensive watches for auto mechanics and racing; the Platona is very scratched up all of which can be recovered at a normal service." like that's the standard? just because someone else wears something expensive while they work means everyone should? I'm kinda confused on this statement honestly... I like to wear my Rolex when I go out for a day (Fishing on a boat, casino, date night with the misses...) until than it's in the bank. You have a Degree in Chem E. You've been around heavy machinery you said, have you ever taken apart and worked on any of them? if so then I guess I'm "crazy" for not wearing my Rolex while working but if you haven't worked on any why would you even bring this up?

And here's something that'll probably drive you nuts! I still have the plastic on my YMII. That's how new I am keeping it. No plans on selling it just like the plastic on it because it shows that I purchased new and not second hand...

Again, I did not have an attitude and if it came off that way I sincerely apologise, I am very new to forums and the watch community. Happy Holidays to you too

I admit it man I keep my all sticker on my watches until they fall off. I know I am
About to get my butt kicked on admitting this! I also still use the words Batman , hulk , panda etc. I pay over retail for watches I want. I am not 100 percent sure that I really wanted them that bad or just got caught up in the hype. But I will admit I really like them now that I own them. I sold all my watches when I joined forum including my DD40 which some would say is stupid. ( truth is I want another color dial so I will get another one) I have bought and sold several others sometimes at a small loss because I didn’t care !
Your welcome I probably just took all the heat off your post and directed it now towards myself , because I pretty much just Broke every cardinal rule to the hardcore and long term members on the site. I am a watch addict and I admit it!!. The good news is the 4 I currently have I really like. Batman , hulk , root beer and polar. Or as some may call it a Rolex new gen starter pack ! Chilly be nice to me now !!!

I always check the time on my watch unless I have my phone in front of me or in hand already.

Seems kinda ridiculous for someone to spend so much money on a watch and not know how to read the time by glancing at it! To each their own I guess

it only appears that im using my phone for that. The phone is for taking wrist shots, but im sure people think im checking the time on both since they are always both out and in close proximity

I mean seriously how OCD is that... using two devices to look at the time

Either way you evolve around idiots, especially the second option. The first one is pretty bad too.
