I've just went back from Israel and I swam with my Explorer on the wrist many times during the last two weeks without any problem. Of course, I wasn't hunting fishes but the waves where enough violent to apprehend scratches on it. I love it!

I have used my Explorer whilst bodyboarding under my wetsuit and it has been fine. Still not so sure if i would risk it bare armed on a wipe out or going over the falls in Indonesia.
The points raised about it being so shiny and attracting predatory fish is pause for thought. |

I have surfed numerous times with a sub. I think an explorer is fine in waist high or smaller waves. But I have recently switched to a Tudor FXD and it is by far the best watch I’ve worn surfing. Light and secure. As others have said, you just don’t have 100% security with regular spring bars.

I've worn my submariner surfing because I was on holiday and didn't want to leave it in the hotel. The watch was totally fine, but it wasn't the most comfortable surf session. It seemed to sit in my wrist joint funny and made me feel off balance during the pop up.

I’ve surfed 2 hurricanes and 3 continents with my Explorer. Reef breaks, point breaks, beach breaks. The reason I bought it was to get a tough watch for surfing that would last a lifetime Mine in action
