No one out lumes me at GTGs... and thank the crazy folks at Panerai to include a 70-year warranty that also covers free of cost all services over those 70 years

Exactly my friend. Much like Cartier, it seems there is a sub-set of WIS who appreciate both brands' current technical and aesthetic savoir-faire, but the vast majority of people, including several on TRF from the comments I've seen, think of both brands as, at best, "nice watches" and, at worst, "fashion watches". Doesn't change the fact that I would love to wear an SS Octo with grey (or black?) dial.

Bulgari and Cartier are pretty much identical in terms of their business. They are both primarily jewellers with a strong watch making history and also make bags, sunglasses, fragrances but that is not what they are really known for. They cannot be compared to Gucci, Hermes, Ralph Lauren etc.

Bulgari has innovated and taken watchmaking to new heights in the past 5 years with the Octo Finissimo. Plus their designs are different to the typical 'me too' watches out there.

I will be purchasing their Aluminium Chronograph very soon, it won the most iconic watch award at the GPHG awards in 2020.

Jewelers

Cartier and Bulgari make exceptional watches. Cartier designs are iconic, they have so many pieces I love, while most brands, including Rolex, have one or two pieces that interest me. Furthermore, I find the watches from these brands has an amazing fit, feel and attention to detail, precisely due to the fact that they are jewelers and know their craft. A lot of brands make beautiful watches, but that wear like a hard shoe you are glad to take out after a few hours (looking at you Omega). Cartie and Bulgari watches are thin, buttery and beautiful and that is all I care about.

no sadly it is not by most WIS.

i believe the brand is increasing in prominence. the movements are in house. the case finishing and design are top notch for the price point. i bought into the brand recently.

the new world timer and genta watches are expanding the brand profile IMO. it is on the up and up.

yes it is primarily the serpentini (which many do not care for but sells well) and octo. but rolex is an oyster case, PP is the nautilus (in the eyes of many) and AP is the royal oak.

a lot of people knocked down VC until recently (notwithstanding their history). china is the reason VC came back in favor. now that VC overseas are harder to get everyone likes them seemingly.

i dont know if bulgari watches ever will be hard to get and i doubt they will be. i do not care. the brand is in house and integrated. the design is unlike any other and the the execution is on point. to me that is all that matters. people can dismiss the brand but if they do so they are simply missing out.

of course in today's day and age a lot of collectors are simply trying to make quick money or establish quick equity in watches. so naturally missing out on watches that dont provide that is extremely likely.
