I enjoy the hunt, and finding a watch at or below retail is part of the fun for me, regardless if the money means anything. I like a deal....wait and get one the right way, it will be more enjoyable. It isn't like they are rare...be patient.

Money is not an issue. But it’s hard to wrap my head around paying 150% of list or more for a watch. I could wait until an AD could get me one even if it took months or years.

But I want one.

Please talk me out of this craziness. Please.
What else is in your collection that makes it land, sea, air and space?

I look at if from a diff POV. I paid $7600 for my BLNR in 2016. I flipped it a few weeks ago for $13,200. The net helped put me into a wg Daytona OF. I figured I should strike while the iron is hot (even as prices have come down a little). I was able to take advantage of the ridiculous climate we're in to get into a PM piece. Obviously I had to put up a significant chunk of change to get into the Daytona, but I was playing with house money of $5,600.

That being said, I'm usually super impatient, but I think the prices are going to continue to soften a bit. If you can wait, wait.

Just buy it, have it tomorrow.

I’m all for waiting it out if the time frame is realistic. My ADs wouldn’t even put my on the lists for hard to get watches. So I buy from Takuya, and enjoy immediately.

Money is for getting what you want. If you have the money, get what you want. Having to pay a premium would irk me but it wouldn't stop me. I wouldn't wait. Especially in the current market. There is no promise that an AD will come through with the watch you want anytime soon. So get the watch now and enjoy.

If money isn’t an issue go for it.

If you’re someone who may look back and regret it. Then don’t.

Does everyone remember when we had this conversation two years ago about the Hulk at $11k? Last year we said it about the Pepsi at $17k.

If it is just a watch to complete your trio then I would wait it out. Now if it is a piece you really love and/or grail then get it on the secondary market.

Are you in a big hurry??? If not be patient and get it at MSRP. They aren't as rare as some other models like Daytonas and Sky Dwellers.

I would ask myself what advise I would give my son if he came to me with the same question of what to do. Considering that I always taught him the value of delayed gratification I would follow my own advice and wait.

If you preferred the oyster bracelet, you would be forced to buy from the grey market..

It's not grey, it's the used market.

I would ask myself this question: did I give any second thought about the batman 2/3 years ago when the shortage wasn't an issue? Or am I buying because now it is hard to get? I never saw the same love for the BLNR before, and I don't think that it was just because of the jubilee bracelet in the current model that people want it.

Anyway, having said that, if money isn't an issue I would go for it.

I'm just guessing, but you didn't get to a point (at least partly) of "money isn't an issue" by overpaying for things throughout life... Is this different? Maybe... but I doubt it.

Every time I rush into a purchase I regret it later.

As others have said, more eloquently than I, if you think the premium might be an issue, then it will be. You will never get the enjoyment out of owning it that you would have had you searched for it and snagged a "good" deal.

If you plan to hold on to it for a long time then I wouldn't be overly concerned about paying a premium. I'd do it!! Likely the market will catch up to and exceed what you paid in a few years. You'll have the value of owning/enjoying it. Tough to put a $$ on that but I think it far exceeds the monetary hit you'll initially feel.

If money is no issue buy a platinum DD and never look back. Started and finished on top with no money wasted along the way.

Bought a Daytona Ceramic grey when it first came out and paid a lot less than what it is selling for now. Sure, maybe I could have gotten it for less, but I could also still be waiting for it.

Your money, do what you want with it.

I can’t pay over retail. I feel like I ought to be clever enough to find a better deal but to each their own.

Please talk me out of this craziness...

Those prices are stabilizing. Maybe wait a little bit and see if you can get one from an AD.

If money is not an issue, get it and don’t look back. Wear it. Enjoy it. We have no guarantee of how much time we get. Go for it. (For myself, I would buy a WG BLRO and have a magnificent PM piece. In fact, that’s what I did.)

I just don’t like the idea of paying far above retail for something that’s second or third hand. Especially something personal like a watch. Regrettably, I’ve done this in the past but not again
