Sorry to correct you back but as I said “one of if not the only time”, as I was pretty sure I had read about another time but I did not know specifics so thank you! However, rare just the same and I appreciate it being connected With someone famous

Wait a second. Rolex did not create your “Jacques Piccard”. That was an aftermarket project and was NOT created by Rolex. The blue dial Deepsea was created by Rolex in commemoration. 2 very different things!
Anyone can buy a watch, modify it, add a limited number to it. I’m not knocking your watch, but only clarifying the major difference.

SD43

the DSSD is nice if u like the thickness.. and don't mind the "ORIGINAL GAS ESCAPE VALVE / RING LOCK SYSTEM" text.
Neither works for me. (The domed sapphire is nice, tho)

not my pic:

Great points once again. Ive owned a dssd 116660 in the past so i Know how thick and heavy it is. Im thinking maybe the 43 is just a slightly smaller and easier watch to wear but love the blue dial and history on the dssd. I own a batgirl now so i need something chunky! Lol.

Tudors are awesome...

The fun part of this exercise is most of us would probably not mind having either one. However, I truly love the James Cameron DSSD. I also love the story about the dive, the sub and especially the fact that Rolex themselves endorsed James Cameron and his dive to the ocean depths. But to those here that find fault with him, the size of this watch, the story about James Cameron, etc., and prefer other models, more power to you all for being here and sharing in all things Rolex...

Good point! My Pelagos LHD gets more wrist time than any of my divers. Basically because it’s features make it more useful than any of them.

I just bought the DSSD JC three weeks ago. I love that watch. I have wanted that watch for a long time. I adore the dial color and print on it with the green DEEP SEA, the domed glass, the size and the whole watch. I don't think you can go wrong with either one, (I wish I had them both). But we all like different things and have different taste. The most important is that you need to buy what your eye like to see, what you like.
The deep see is a little heavy for some people, I am use to bigger watches and like the size, but you definitely know that you have the watch on your wrist.

Had the original JC, beautiful watch, just to uncomfortable. Traded it for the SD43, no regrets, better balance. Wasn't a fan of the cyclops at first, but gotten used to it. A lot of non-watch people say the Cyclops gives it the Rolex DNA.

Recently tried on the new JC, better balance than the original. but It's a beast, a lot of weight. If you get this one, hit the gym...LOL!

I own the SD43 and the black DSSD and if forced to choose, I'd go for the SD43. More comfortable and better proportioned.

This may be the case(no pun intended).
However, after a while it becomes a normal appearance and other watches look a feel a bit on the thin side.
I personally always felt like the other Rolex designs looked a bit flat proportionally and when the DSSD came along it was a small blessing. Then again, I have reasonably large wrists that are on the flat end of the spectrum and even bigger hands so it all sort of evens out.

DSSD without a doubt. It does not wear as big as many make it out to be - it’s a great watch and the dial is amazing. Much better than simple red text on the dial.

I was in the same situation and just could get past 3 things. Not that I’m going down 3900m but it is the ultimate diver. Two, the dial is incredible. Depending on lighting, it’s constantly changing. Three the way it sits on my wrist was more comfortable than the SD43. So basically this

DSSD JC for me, I am bias as I have one. You have to try before you buy however. Its so subjective. People make a lot about the size of the DSSD, yes its a big watch but its not OTT. ROO, Panerais are all big watches and plenty of folks where those as dailies.
