As usual, you guys are brutal.
For a smaller budget I would go with a classic Datejust 1601. If you look hard enough you will be in the 3k range(U.S. dollars). You can never go wrong with a Datejust. From there you can still find a sleeper in the modern Milgauss. Not the blue dial or green crystal but in the standard white or black dial. Ask around and you can find one in the low 5s, possibly high 4's. Last but not least, a five digit Explorer II. Another strong classic piece that has not exploded yet and can still be had in the 5k range. Look around and ask and I'm sure you can find one. Welcome and good luck in your quest |

If you are going rolex, go for the icon submariner no date. Be patient and buy 2nd hand.

A lot of great replies on here. I’d recommend either a datejust, SS submariner or Explorer I. It all comes down to budget and your personal preference. Good Luck and welcome!

I would go for Black Sub date. But who knows, I always go more than my budget and always happy with my decision afterward.

A Ton of great suggestions from members and cutting edge humor from "the usual suspects."
However, no further information from OP whose post count is still 1. What gives? Was OP kidnapped by aliens or did OP decide to buy an Appel Watch instead?

I would say if you mean beginner and on a budget, I would say one that may be your only watch-and it’s probably an Explorer 1 or a Sub.

You're not a beginner. You're a potential Rolex owner. No apprenticeship, probationary period or junior status is required. All you need is money.
Get the model you want at the price you can afford. Love it and wear the hell out of it. Whatever happens to its value will happen, regardless of if you own it or not. Compared to the majority of other brands, Rolex watches have a tendency to retain more value and bleed less. But this is no guarantee. If at all possible, try one on before you buy. I don't own a Rolex which is an uncomfortable fit. But it's best to size it, feel it and match it against your skin. A watch you like may look less desirable on you. A watch you discounted might turn out to be impossible to take off again. Above all, have fun. What you are going to do should be a lot of fun. This is worth remembering. If it isn't, something is wrong. |

Datejust don’t keep their value, nor do they go up...
I think either an explorer or a sub. Would be a good compromise. They do retain their value at the very least. |

best beginner rolex?
Unpopular opinion. Screw resale value buy the one that you can afford and like on your wrist.
Watches are not good investment vehicles. They are meant to be bought with disposable income and are a luxury that you enjoy. If resale value is really that important to you go used so not only you can get something you like but the first owner already took the major depreciation hit. My advice is just not to buy on resale value alone as you'll most likely end up regretting it later. Just my two cents. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What doesn’t being a beginner have to do with it? It’s not as though certain models require years of experience. How much do you want to spend and what do you like?
