I just retired from a career as a professional wildlife conservationist. I started wearing an Explorer II after my friend Dr. George Schaller appeared in a Rolex ad campaign extolling their reliability.
I've spent a lot of time in places without electricity or repair resources, and my 16570 has never let me down, either. I'm more than half-way through the February Accuracy Experiment, and it's within two seconds of the atomic clock, with no adjustments.
I have found the GMT hand to be very useful. It's amazing how confusing time zone changes can be when you're exhausted.
Yes, a G-Shock could have done the job. But my Explorer II works in boardrooms and in situations where one has to project authority and confidence, too.

Worn a GMT every day of my life for nearly 50 years.
Got it very, very wet a few times in oceans, seas, rivers, pools , showers and very heavy rain around the world. Seems ok, so far.
Never, ever used the 24hr hand. I have always relied on both brain cells of the mental arithmetic function of my onboard organic computer, which I have owned for more than 70 years. Seems ok...ish,....so far.

Most modern flight decks, I hope, have programmable clocks.
The latest dive computers seem marvelous.
Haven't noticed Lewis confirming any lap times on his Daytona.
Who really needs a Rolex for anything other than to have a beautiful way, to check the time of day?

Aquanaut has been down very deep if I recall correctly....real professional use as commercial diver.

I use my divers to time the BBQ mainly. I do use the BLRO for tracking time in different parts of the world for my work

I use my divers to time everything, even diving! Rolex on left wrist, computer on right.

Personally I love my TT black dial Daytona (haven't posted it up yet as I haven't long joined and it's at the RSC) I'm not a racer but I love the style and look of it and the chrono function can be used for multiple purposes.
I'd love a sub or a SD but I haven't gone diving yet etc etc.

What are your thoughts and uses for your professional models?
I do.

I bought my GMT a few years ago when I was managing teams on two different continents (well, three if you count where I live). Yeah, I could just use my iPhone for that, but glancing at my wrist is easier, especially if I'm using my iPhone as a, well, as a phone, when I want to see the time.

I still travel a lot for work and my GMT is my "travel watch" now, wear it for all my trips and it is very functional.

But I got mine for $5.5K -- from a TS on here before the SS shortage made things crazy. Not sure I'd make the same choice today if I needed a multi-timezone watch, not for $15K...

and yet you claim that only one person is using their watch properly!

THE HUMANITY!!!

i am not a diver but i am looking to pick it up this summer in honor of my stepfather. it frankly scares the hell out of me, but i always end up loving terrifying things! c’est la vie.

commercial divers have every ounce of my respect.

Based on prior threads, many GMT owners use the second time zone. Few use the Rolex chronograph or watch timer

I have to confess to not entirely giving the Milgauss it's due credit for appearance. Some stock and generated photos haven't done it much justice. Seeing it like this paints it in an entirely different picture.
It is a lovely looking piece

Ahh, the dreaded Grimes light. I pull that sucker straight out of its housing when I jump in the cockpit so it doesn’t scratch my watch. I just let it hang behind my brain bag and at the end of my trip I politely stick it back in, zero out my course indicator, look down at my 16750 and smile. I’ve been rocking my GMT for years. It’s been around the world as military dude in a nonflying position, and thanks to the GI Bill, been accompanying me at work for years. Works great, lasts a long time... If I was tech savvy I’d post a pic, so just picture a badass Pepsi on my wrist. On a side note, I just got home from a three day, and my FO was wearing a twenty year old 16710 Coke that he bought 20 years ago. It was beat to hell but he wore it everyday since, from his A-10 days to his retirement in F-16’s.

To read the time? Yes I use it for the intended purpose.

Well if the sub depressurizes at deeper than 1250 feet then your submariner would be fubar'd! Probably require an expensive repair.
