I usually say to each their own, but I will be damned.

OP - try to enjoy moments and not the material things or what's associated with them. Take care.

I've had two Rolex watches new from the AD. Both watches the stickers came off neat. It's not rocket science.

OP you do you... But the removal of the stickers isn't hard and they should easily stay in good shape.

My kid has some Toy Story stickers that you can borrow if you ruin yours.

Considering how often people write posts about "protecting the watch from scratches" I am surprised wearing a sticker laden watch has not become a trendy thing to do.

This is a new one. At least you're taking them off. You still want to keep them. One step at a time I suppose.

Stickers are trash and you should put them there. If you're unsure about whether you're keeping the watch then leave them on for a month or so.

Congratulations on the DD OP

If you want to keep the stickers that’s your business IMHO.

Congrats on your DD

If you want to keep the stickers for whatever reason, peel them off and stick them on the inside cover of the booklet or on a piece of paper. They shouldn't need any special treatment to remove, just patience trying to find them all (heating them may cause a mess). Personally I would just throw them away, but of course it's up to you.
Btw, I wouldn't leave any on as they will eventually get chewed-up and possibly attract dirt/grit or even get stuck in a moving part of the clasp.
Imo it's better just to wear the watch as Rolex intended and have it lightly polished if scratches begin to bother you. Personally I prefer an unpolished watch, but others feel differently. Some will just wait until a watch goes for service and have it refinished then. It just comes down to personal preference.

Maybe I am wrong, but whenever I have bought something expensive, I forget the money I paid for it, as if I had lost it in a casino, and so I simply enjoy the ITEM and not the money it represented to buy it.

In the end if you are going to buy a Rolex and one is scratched and the other is not the price difference can be 1k or 2k between the scratched vs the flawless. So for 1k I am not going to suffer because I would feel mean with myself and with life.

With a hairdryer at a low temperature maybe?, anyone any experience with this?

Kind regards,

Stickers are vinyl and there is no adhesive on them.
Saving them will NOT make your watch retain more value.
They are meant for the trash after sale of watch.

Assuming there are others with your orientation, you could sell them on eBay.

When I got my first Rolex, a submariner in 1979, a friend told me to leave the case back sticker on the watch. So apparently it’s valid for the OP to wonder about the stickers. Personally, unless you plan to keep the watch in original condition with stickers left on and not wear the watch, I would discard them as some have pointed out...

Congrats on your DD40. Any pics... I bought a 16710 last year from 2004 and I used a hairdryer on warm to remove the green hologram sticker on the caseback, it came off easily in one piece so im sure that would work for you.

There’s a Rolex intern who on reading this post has sent up a memo to HQ: “An increment of 0.5% must be made on the upcoming price increase. Peculiar as it may sound, the stickers may become a thing.”

JK.

Congrats OP, glad to see you take all the ribbing here in good humor. Look forward to seeing the pics

OP just don't wear the watch if you wan't it perfect. I guarantee you that it will get scratches the moment you put it on regardless of how careful you are with it. Get a loupe and you'll drive yourself mad.

Don't let the watch wear you OP. It would be a shame.

I may have made a mistake. In my zeal to have a complete set, I somehow threw away the watch and kept the stickers.

Put the watch in a glass of warm water, an hour later the stickers will have came off and floated to the top.
