I love it when people seem to be enjoying and appreciating their watches three years in as much as they were when they first took them home.

Exactly. It has been with me for three years and still delights me, just as it did on the day I bought it. It may seem like a simple, austere watch, but it still has something that keeps me from getting bored.

I am enjoying revisiting this thread. Your photos are great (not difficult with such a watch, perhaps).

Wow! That’s an absolute stunner. I have a Saxonia Thin, but when I was buying it, I got very close to getting one of those instead. I really do love the balance on the dial layout, plus the style of the numerals and railtrack are just gorgeous.

Although the visual appearance of the 1815 Up/Down hasn't changed much since it was introduced in the 1990s, it was not an especially popular watch back then, and it remained relatively unnoticed well into the 2000s. People talked a lot more about the regular 1815 rather than the Up/Down. Only later did the Up/Down start getting more attention. The 1815 Up/Down is a good example of a model that flew under the radar forever and that people appreciated only later, after it matured.

The Walter Lange 1815 Up/Down (which had a half-hunter hinged caseback) was an especially good example of this. Although the WL 1815 Up/Downs were limited to 50 in each gold color (RG/WG/YG), you could find them preowned, at relatively low prices, for years after their 2007 introduction.

This is incredible. I love hunter case backs. You get the best of both worlds - all the gold you’d get with a closed case back, but also the ability to see the beautiful movement.
