I like watches because of the mechanical aspects and the measurement of time is a measurement of life.

There are plenty of good answers here; some are funny, some are serious. It doesn't matter. The reasons you like watches, collecting them, whatever - are your own; you don't have to justify, or more importantly-have the societal or "forum" approved motive. Too often I see threads/posts diminished because they are asking a question that isn't cool or "pure" to the hobby. People should be able to post questions or topics they like or need information on (this is the fourm purpose) without their motives being impugned by other forum members, or worse - moderators. Roll Tide.

When I was a child my father showed me a 1947 Tudor which his uncle received as a gift upon being demobbed from the British Army (he was an Irish RC Chaplin).
It was passed to my father and it has been passed to me. I have loved wrist watches since then and have owned all types and manner including one each from the trinity. A nice watch from part of how I identify myself. Having owned many high end pieces (and sold them to fund things better for family life) I realise that the chase is the thing for me. I am wearing a Mark XVI pilot bought for my 40th by my wife today. It’s a good watch, not hi horological, but satisfies me. As does my Tudor GMT and Datejust. I like wearing quality, but not at a level where it wears me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I love mechanical things. I collect BMWs, Rolexes & Montblanc pens.

Watches are part of the business uniform to me, and I love dressing the part
