After reading all the horror stories online, I started my real AD hunt last weekend. Took me all but one day and I was able to build a strong relationship with one of them.

Already have my name down and I'm dealing with the store mgr directly. Just be honest and be yourself and do NOT hint that u are purchasing to resell or make a profit!.

My AD said he can hook me up before X-mas. It's not exactly weeks but I can wait for another 1-3 months.

Yes, there's a wait but if u do your shopping , it's not as bad as the internet will tell ya.

Good luck.
lol your AD said he can hook you up before xmas but until you have the watch in hand whatever they told you means nothing. i wish you the best of luck and hope you do get it but there's no reason to be celebrating and giving people advice when you don't have it yet. all you have right now is your name on a "list" that actually doesn't exist in most ADs, and someone's word, which in this world also doesn't mean much most of the time. there are people that do get lucky and can get a steel piece as their first, but the majority of people are unable to, so it's no surprise many of those go grey. also a sub is actually something realistic with no purchase history, a batman/pepsi are not

Yes, though Subs are getting harder like everything else.

There are so many posts about “patience.” If you are a VIP (you buy a lot of jewelry, you’ve consistently bought watches pre-2017, you know who you are) then “patience” may apply.

For many, there is no “patience” — because Patience implies certainty that you will get the watch in time. However, for non-VIPs there is no certainty. The lists are not “first come, first serve.” You could be infinitely patient and never receive the watch.

Rolex enthusiasts go Grey because they want certainty. If you want to spend you time dreaming, and risking a lot of uncertainty (and likely a low probability) that you will ever receive the watch, then keep “building relationships” and having “good conversations” with SAs… and hope he or she gives you their cell and that they really like you back…

That is unfortunately true.

People who constantly preach patience should wonder if the grey price would exceed msrp by such a huge margin if obtaining it was no more than a simple matter of waiting?

Ridiculous really.
