There is no bad choice here. I would be happy with either, or both.

I personally love the Rhodium dial and the way it pairs with the Horus Miami blue strap during the summers. Time to swap out the bracelet again and give it some rest.

You can't go wrong with either although my personal favorite is the original "textured" platinum (light grey) :)

Blue 100%. This is actually the reference I'm awaiting a call for, from the A.D. I was put upon the list back in April so it will probably be a while yet.

Both are very nice, but I have a preference for slate. I like the dressier vibe, it suits the Yacht-Master better, to me at least.
I was confronted with a similar choice in 2015, albeit platinum dial vs blue dial, ref 116622, there was no rhodium/slate at the time, that one came up in 2016. I had both models in front of me, side by side in my hands and I chose pt dial. I really liked the monochrome look, harching back to the original 16622 from 1999, the first Rolesium model. If I didn't already have the pt, I'd get the slate, the next best dial to me. |

I have both. I would go with the slate. The blue has a bit of an aquamarine tint in it. The baby blue highlights on the slate are very unique.

Slate - blue makes the dial look too small

Neither. My friend hit the bezel causing an unsightly mark. Scared me away.

Blue by a mile! Friend has Slate and I was worried I made the wrong choice… got the call for blue and it is so dynamic in so many lighting situations and the platinum bezel shines!

Slate is more similar to the discontinued platinum dial. The blue pops much more and is very very sporty. I prefer blue.

I came back into the hobby after a decade-long hiatus. Upon seeing the rhodium YM40 it was immediately the watch I wanted. So it was an easy choice for me buying the slate dial last fall. Stunning watch.
