Historically before the hype they traded a couple thousand under retail. If you like it you wear and it costs a couple thousand if you move it on. Go for it if you love it.

As long as you don't pay over retail there's nothing wrong with this arrangement.

Unless you plan to go preowned, the only way you're going to get this at anything under retail is for the person selling it to have purchased it from an AD at below retail
I doubt we'll see Rolex ADs discounting anytime soon (and if they do it wont be much)

Buy it but be prepared to take a 10%-15% hair cut when/if you sell it

Lol, I tried the "half-gold" on in person and was impressed. I'd normally and historically thought two tone was not for me but the demo model I tried on was very nice.

Interesting motivation and concern to get a watch but in the end, you do you. If I had similar thoughts, I would not get. If I was offered this watch by AD, I'd get, but that's m own opinion independent of any realizable market value. The only time I think realizable market value should come into account is if a lightly used version is available at a hefty discount to retail(Land Rovers/omegas except that silly snoopy one etc..)

Buy it if you like it and if you can afford it.

Speculation on watches is not healthy.

Really enjoyed the read and I am not the least affected by some of the rude remarks as I expected that from the start having read in this and many others forum.

As to the half-gold comment, it is hilarious. Agreed, "half-gold" is only use in where we are (i.e. Asia). Just like we do not usually use the term two tone. Great to know across cultures, we can discuss the same thing and name them differently.

I guess I will just need to pick up the watch from the AD and know for myself if I have made a mistake week, months or years later.

At retail from an AD, still a good buy. Could you get a cheaper at some point? Possibly. But it's likely going to be used and you will not be the original owner.

I get where you're coming from. No matter how much you like to watch, or how much money you have, you always want to know what the market is. That's just good sense.

And you would think by coming to a forum like this you could get some good information.

Me too, and I also prefer Half Gold to "bi-metal", which is or was common usage in the UK. Come to think of it, Half Gold even sounds better to me than Rolesor, which is a 90-year-old trademark. Sign me up for the Half Golders

I agree fully. It's an epic watch. Timeless. Currently hard to get, maybe less so when the frenzy dies down, but won't go down in value. And after a rub and tug at the RSC those scratches will be gone. I have a tt gmt and a ym and the PCLs are what they are. Not to us but not others, and of course polishable - buy it if you love it!

I am not a fan of gold watches as they seem pretentious to me overall, unless they are white gold. For some reason the half gold, formerly known as bluesy, gets a pass. It is stunning in person. The only version I don't like is the one with the light blue dial that came out several years ago. Looked like the same ugly dial the smurf came with.
