Pateks are also for the most part very dressy and yet they're hyped beyond belief.
You see guys in t-shirts and shorts wearing gold Patek complications on leather straps. |

VCO is just benefiting from spillover demand from AP and Patek.
One year ago, as a first time buyer, I was being sold the skeleton QP and blue tourbillon. I was seriously toying with the skeleton QP overseas because my AP ceramic skeleton QP allocation was uncertain but I just could not wrap my head around the bracelet which AP smokes them on. The movement finishing is very nice though and from raclaims IG their service seems top notch too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Vacheron service is def top notch and the skelly overseas QP is awesome...add to that their changing strap system and it's just so versatile...you can even go to Jean Rousseau and have custom straps made and add the hardware for the overseas connections so straps are limitless.
Don't get me wrong the AP QP is amazing too...the VC is stellar and shouldn't be seen as second tier to the AP by any means |

Even as a new customer, VC boutiques have good service. Friendly and knowledgeable. So it’s not just VIP customers that get red carpet treatment. For that I have enormous respect for the VC customer service experience. Though VCO is difficult to get these days, they still take time to explain why it isn’t possible, as opposed to the Patek Salon which can get quite arrogant whenever Aquanaut/Nautilus are mentioned.

Just got a VC overseas. Would not have gotten an AP or patek sports watch even if they are not so hyped up. At current market conditions, yes of course if you can get a RO or nautilus at msrp it’s basically free money. But if you ask if I like those watches as much as an overseas, I would say no. Personally I’m not a fan of how showy genta designs tend to me, I like my watch being understated and kind of stealth luxury only me or close friends appreciate. That said, would love a patek annual/perpetual calendar if budget allows.

VC isn’t garnering that kind of overflow hype from the Overseas—maybe I’m naive for believing they don’t care. They do what they do, and I suspect they sell as many watches as they need to in order to continue doing so. Their core is haute dress pieces, and those don’t generate hype in and of themselves. But for those of us who appreciate them, it’s hard to do better than a VC. I considered a Calatrava when I got my Traditionelle, but once I saw them both in the metal, it wasn’t even close: the VC is a much more interesting watch at that price point. If I’m being honest, there’s nothing in the Patek catalogue that interests me enough to spend the money. |

Interestingly enough Vacheron used to be AP's Middle East distributor during the '70s.
As for Patek I feel like they've have always had an unusually devoted following even prior to the Nautilus explosion. I've been into watches for over 20 years and in that timeframe no other brand has commanded attention like Patek or Rolex. In fact, even back then Vacheron was kind of seen as the "underdog". I wonder if the Holy Trinity were perceived equally during the '50s-'70s or if the Patek phenomenon is relatively recent. |
