My reasoning behind this is:

YM is more versatile, works way better in an elegant setting and is more luxurious, but you can dress it down as well.

It’s also much more rare to see around - batman / batgirl are everywhere. ( that’s if it matters to you )

Another huge reason for me is comfort - it’s wayyyy more comfortable on the wrist than the gmt, it’s probably the most comfortable watch that Rolex makes rn.

To be honest, I wouldn’t make a decision based on what we say here, go and try them both in-store and I’m sure you’ll know.

Good luck and post a pic once you get it

How do you measure comfort? GMT is pretty comfortable to wear.

Also, I very rarely see a BLNR out in the wild. Maybe one or two in the last five years.

But if you like the YM better, then that’s fine.

YM for me, but you can't go wrong with either, so you should follow what your instincts and heart are telling you.

This “comfort” description that many keep throwing around is the dumbest thing I’ve heard recently.

I haven’t worn all the Rolex catalog, but I’ve worn many, and I don’t find any to be uncomfortable, whatever TF that means.

Discomfort or comfort; i guess it’s just one of those things that when you feel it, you know?

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for the inputs,, I finally made a purchase yesterday.

I love both watches and as I mentioned before, it is matter of which one to go first. My choice was…. Batman! After some considerations and thoughts, I choose batman simply because:

1. It is probably easier to get YM40 from AD in the future than batman.
2. Batman could retain the price better than YM40 but this is not a major concern as I am buying for life, not to flip it.

Anyway, both win my heart. I definitely will go after YM40 for my next purchase.

Congratulations, you will enjoy your Batman.
There was no wrong decision to be made here.
I enjoy both equally, as they are two great watches.

I prefer the YM, always have. A sexier and classier Sub, when you need to scratch that dressy sports watch itch. The Sub is top, don't get me wrong. The YM is my favourite watch, after the SD43.

The Batman/Batgirl is OK, doesn't make my heart skip a beat. Pepsi and Coke are slightly more exciting to me, but I have no use nor interest for a dual timezone function.

I’ve owned both, still have the YM slate. Gorgeous and elegant, a gentleman’s watch.

By how it feels on your wrist obviously.

I guess which watch you see more often is quite dependent on where you’re located, here it’s a landslide in favour of the gmt, but that’s irrelevant - some people don’t care if they see a bunch of others wearing the same thing.

Also if you have both in front of you, go ahead and look very carefully at the case ( angles, taper, polishing and bevelling ) , measure the thickness and weigh them.

Anyways many of these aspects are subjective and what is important for me might be totally irrelevant for others.

I think the initial post was looking to see different opinions and POVs based on the experiences of the members here.

I hope I didn't make a mistake, it is one helluva piece, and if the Rhodium didn't exist, would have bought it in a heart.

In the OP's case here I'd go fo the Batman.
I own both of these and theyre both epic.

I own both and have for a few years. The BLNR is on a jubilee so both are very comfortable to wear. If I had to pick one I would keep the YM40. It dresses up and down a little better than the BLNR.

The 40m steel Yachtmaster weighs a bit more than the GMT due to the platinum bezel. Don’t know if that would be a deal breaker. I think about 15 grams more or little more than 1/2 ounce.

I prefer the slate dial YM40 to the blue but either one is a great watch and has a much more beautiful and refined case shape than the GMT or sub. It’s essentially a higher-end dressy version of the sub…

It depends on what you’re after but if you want a dressier and refined look go with the yachty.

Price-wise, the YM is worthy of its retail price imo…I would not pay a 1.5x premium for a Batman.

A sheet of A4 paper weighs 5 grams…so the weight difference would be three sheets of paper. Not sure how that could be a deal breaker.

Yachtmaster has classic, refined case lines. GMT retains the ungainly block lugs. Yachtmaster every time for me.

Get rid of the polished center links and that would be my new favorite watch.
