I certainly remember times, when really no one wanted a GMT. You couldn't give them away for the longest time, especially the WG surounds 16750s. I am really fascinated by the fact that after the introduction of the new Pepsi everyone seemed to forget and vintage GMTs have soared. No one wanted them for years. They always traded below subs for example.

Since the Zenith, Daytonas have always been the Rolex grail. I think that won't change any time soon, regardless of what some dealers will tell you.

Back in the day, all rolex could be purchased at a discount and some sat in the case for month, including the Daytona. those days are long gone.

Never been a fan of the ceramic BLRO (and I have been offered it twice). The "burple" colors are an embarrassment to the original version, and the cartoonish sized numerals on bezel do not help either.

Just do not see its attraction, but to each his own.

I would definitely prefer GMT over Daytona. The color choices makes matching/pairing a joy and the GMT function is more useful for me than chrono.

Whether BLRO is above or below Daytona, as long as you enjoy it, nothing else matters. Definitely enjoying mine more than

Also don’t understand the execution concerns. I own a 2018 version and it’s great. If anything, I’d say maybe the bezel is too dynamic for most. Sometimes it’s more vivid than other. But certainly wouldn’t consider it poorly executed. The red is red, and the blue is blue.

I really wanted the red to be red. I wanted it to be as vibrant as the red on the 5-digit. But in person, it turned out to be more of a maroon, at least to me. And once my mind saw maroon, it couldn’t unsee it. It was a little too dark, a little cloudy.

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I’m not alone. If you believe the rumors, the red ceramic is difficult to produce. My guess is this is just as close as Rolex could get.

I don’t think it’s too unpopular an opinion… the red doesn’t pop. Muddy. The aluminum versions were / are more vibrant.

Being a very fortunate BLRO owner, I'd still say that the Daytona is a much more difficult watch to get. Having said that, I've literally seen HUNDREDS of Daytonas in the wild while I have seen exactly ONE BLRO in the wild. I don't think it's because the Pepsi is harder to get; I think it's because the Daytona is largely considered to be the pinnacle of Rolex so more people (especially people you would consider "non-watch people") aspire to own one.

That said, you can make an argument that the BLRO should be considered the ultimate stainless steel sports model that Rolex offers. Case in point: if you ask 10 "watch" people to name the most iconic chronograph, you would probably hear either the Daytona or a Speedmaster. If you ask them to name the most iconic dive watch, the answers might be quite diverse with some people maybe saying Submariner or Seamaster. Heck you might even hear Blancpain, Doxa, or even Seiko. But if you ask a watch person to name the most iconic GMT, what other possible answer can they give other than the Rolex Pepsi?

The Pepsi has always been an iconic Rolex sports model but not long ago they were sitting in the AD cases at MSRP and readily available. Now the current 126710 has become almost SS Daytona like - very hard to find at ADs and sold with a huge markup elsewhere.

I am in complete agreement. I recognize the icon that the Pepsi color scheme will always be. I owned the BLRO on Oyster and I did love it, but I also found that I just wasn't wearing it a lot. I agree that the colors aren't "perfect," but I also acknowledge that they really don't have to be. It can be its own thing. I have since moved on to the BLNR on Jubilee and I find that I reach for it far more often. I previously owned the 11 series BLNR on Oyster and traded up for the BLRO a few years ago, but as I said, I did come back.

Own one and look at it in all variantions of lighting, in my opinion the red and blue shades are wonderful.
Personally I would not want vibrant coca cola red and bright blue like the 5 digit, the colours on the 126710BLRO are perfectly balanced and seem to go well with any attire.

My guess is the jubilee bracelet compliments the vintage vibe of the GMT perfectly. Both the jubilee and the watch ooze Rolex heritage. Also, it’s a lot more comfortable on the wrist. I have a sub with an Oyster bracelet and a Pepsi on a jubilee bracelet. Finally, I think it better…like it was made for the Pepsi.
