Saw this video interview with the owner of a GS boutique in Taiwan. The interview is conducted in Taiwanese mandarin. (the auto-translate function on youtube is so darned useful sometimes).

The owner explains in detail how they make their dials, the nuances and subtle improvements that GS constantly makes to its watches, and the rationale behind the designs of GS watches etc.

I just ordered this exact model, a pre-owned set, from Japan.

Hope it arrives before the new year. Can't wait!
Wow, that's great. Congratulations!

I'm near certain that you'll love it. I just got back from a 7 day cruise across a couple timezones and it was a terrific travel watch. Worked just as well at the pool as it did with a suit and tie at dinner.

Let me know your thoughts after you get it. Bought mine used also by the way. Good move.

You definitely won’t regret it. It’s probably one of the most comfortable watches in my collection. Love the green as well.

Very neat. Seiko has seemingly endless interesting and unusual case designs.

It’s finally here!

The watch is supremely comfortable.

The curved lugs, polished and brushed facets of the case really helps to disguise the thickness of the watch.

In fact, it doesn’t look or feel thick at all. The play between light and shadow is well at work here.

I’d been wearing a Rolex sky-dweller before receiving this Grand Seiko SBGE253.

The former had an unmistakable heft to it that made it wear like a chunky watch.

The GS feels so much more comfortable and lighter.

The finishing on the case, dial and hands is also miles ahead of most brands at this price range.

As a bonus, i got a great deal for this pre-owned set too.

You were absolutely right. This GS SBGE253 is by far the most comfortable watch that I’ve worn.

The case & lug profile hugs the wrist well.

In person, the watch looks even more stunning than I had imagined.

Hey really glad to hear you are happy with the GS. Looks like it fits you perfectly. Honestly I think this one fits you better than the Sky-D. I think all the focus on thickness of this watch and most others is much ado about nothing. The case size and thickness and shape all work perfectly on this watch. I've also worn this with dress shirts and the cuff slips right over with no hang ups. As you point out the finishing on this watch is amazing. I really love the diamond cut indices and hands and the way they catch the light. The glossy black dial matches up so well with the cereamic bezel. I could go on and on about this watch, it's fantastic.

Thank you for the kind words.

Your past review about this SBGE253 watch helped give me that final push. Glad I took the plunge!

That GS can make these stainless steel indices sparkle like white gold is testament to the quality of their workmanship.

It has barely left my wrist since it arrived and the sky dweller has now been put out to pasture for the foreseeable future.

Thanks. I'm not a photographer - merely bored sometimes and just capture some images by random using a mFT camera and a cheap lens. Handheld camera only and occasionally an off-the-camera blitz during winter season.

Classic old style dial snowflake. I love how under the radar this is with the "Seiko" at 12 o'clock.
