Depends which DS. It is the platinum or gold version?

I've heard that the DS is thick and very top heavy. But that movement is to die for!

Both super pieces but very different. Basically down to personal preference. You can't go wrong

I used to own platinum DS and while amazing watch with sickest movement it was also the single most uncomfortable watch I've ever owned. I also have a 7.5 inch flat wrist so wasn't a question of too big. The issue for me was the crystal on back of movement protruded from case and that wasn't exactly a comfortable feeling. Had it been flat perhaps a much more comfortable watch. So personally I would try to get a feel for both and then you can make wise decision as both so different too.

Although I always value Ken's opinion and agree with him that the watch can feel as though it's sitting on the wrist, at least initially, with time you very quickly get used to it and at least imo is not an issue. Unfortunately I don't have as many watches as Ken has, and so the watches I do have like the DS get more wrist time and frankly is not an issue anymore. Furthermore I feel the DS is so much more imposing than the Dato or up/ down that it's worth getting used to. Moreover as Ken correctly pointed out the mechanism is sick and also in platinum is fairly limited production numbers as they no longer make it anymore so longterm it is a much wiser buy..

Ken,

Do you feel the same way about other ALS' with the protruding crystal such as the Dato (I think)?

Dato doesn't protrude nor does any other Lange I own or have owned. They are all pretty flush with cases. Again the DS is an amazing watch but for me wasn't comfortable. The rest are very comfortable for me. To each his own and for one looking for amazing chronograph the DS is tough to beat as Stradman stated above.
