I was 44, 2016, lost a few family and friends, had always liked watches, but just couldn't seem to justify treating myself before, then penny dropped, you're only here once, ive worked hard since leaving school, so from my first..DJ II blue dial smooth bezel, that then was the start of a modest collection for me, looks like I started just as the madness of this hobby hit!!!

30 bought a explorer… definitely one of the happiest days, then went home and felt sick to my stomach for spending 7k on a watch.

23 yrs old. YG day date 118238. I couldn't afford the 40mm so I settled for the 36 to later on regret it as it wore to small on my wrist.

43, I bought a K and Y serial SD and still have both, but now enjoy a red letter SD. The upgrades and build quality of the SD 43 are significant.

Age 22. Senior year of college. Bought a NOS Rolex Cellini 5115/8. Didn’t have my “big boy job” yet, but I knew it was surefire. Put it on my recently acquired zero interest credit card. Got my job and paid it off in 3 months and didn’t pay a dime of interest.
Was wearing a Tudor BB36 prior. Still have it currently. Bought a a Pepsi ceramic the following year as my first steel sports model. I kinda went backwards. |

30. I have always had seikos for the most part since I was young. Had almost every color of there original monster line, a few knights, a spork, and various others. I still have a yellow/blue SNA281 Chrono that was my all time favorite.
When I was 22 I had 3 different breitlings. 50th navitimer, Chrono cockpit with factory diamond bezel insert, and a limited edition super ocean II with the abyss red bezel insert. This was back when the gmt II was still around 5K for a nice one, and the breitlings were slightly cheaper, maybe 4K each. 8 years later and the breitlings are still worth roughly the same, yet the gmt II has nearly tripled in value. Kicking myself for that, but finally having one rolex is better than never acquiring one at all. |

I purchased my first Rolex in 2004 at the age of 34. Yachtmaster #16622 for $2,700. That was almost 20 years ago. I still have it. Time sure does fly.
