Finally purchased a DSSD after wanting one for 4 years, I've come from a PAM00177 Panerai and I don't think I will look back, absolutely love it!

Love the dial, crystal, Glidelock, crown, lugs, end pieces, etc. Simply a great watch.
And not for everyone, which is perfectly fine with me.

well done

Had it for 3 months and still in love with the dial. My daily beater.

Anyone has it on an isofrane strap?

I'm happy to join the DSSD thread with mine. I've owned it for about seven years so you can probably guess it's a keeper for me. I also recently picked up an SD 4000 and find they compliment each other nicely!

Okay, so in March I bought a DSSD D-Dial when my local AD let me know he had one in stock. I am in Dubai so no sales tax and i got a 10% discount. So I am into the watch for $11,716. (43,000 AED). I had just bought an explorer II and brought it in for sizing when I saw the D-Dial. I was literally mesmerized by the psychedelic colors and thought I might be able to make a few bucks if I didn't want to keep it because it looked big in the display case. So big that I didn't even try it on!

I put it into the safe and listed it for sale on Dubizzle. Started going to the gym to add some muscle. In the meantime. I had a few offers on it but not enough premium to make it worth selling as the D-Dials really are quite stunning.

I had one offer to trade it for a black DSSD and enough cash to make it interesting but I knew I would not be happy with the black face DSSD and some cash that would so get spent on nothing of merit so I passed. I didn't want to risk trying flip it overseas lest I get scammed trying to pick up a few extra dollars...you guys who sell watches have bigger brass ones than I do!

Finally, after looking at the watch as an object of art since March and realizing that I don't really want to part with it...and I keep thinking just what if Rolex stops taking orders for them and really limits the run....or what if James Cameron dies...and finally, the truth is, I always wanted a big a55 diving watch.

So last week I have had the watch sized, removed the stickers and started wearing it. I then realized it is actually SMALLER than the Suunto Vector that I wear when I go into the Iraqi oil patch. It is heavier of course, but as I have been going to the gym everyday since March I am not bothered.

Also, I realized the best time to wear this watch is in fact when I am in natty shorts and flipflops on the weekend and taking the kids out for icecream or to the swimming pool. Will I take it diving or sailing? No, because I have the Suunto which is the beater.

Lastly, I must say, of all of the Rolexes I have bought, this is the one that has been the most fun to purchase as the whole buying process has taken like 6 months!

Edit: the photo sucks. but the the dial is what sold me on this.

the reflection of the etching I shown partially, didn't see this effect with the Gmt2c previously. Will try to take better pics in future.

Hello everyone. I'm new here, and just purchased (today) a brand new DSSD D-Blue. It will be a few days before it gets here, but i had a question. I wanted to see if anyone has purchased an aftermarket leather strap for this beast? And what size width is suggested? I currently own a couple of Panerai's, and changing straps is very easy. (not to mention, i really like the look of leather straps) How easy is it to change into a leather strap on the DSSD? and are there any pics of DSSD's on leather straps (not nato straps)? (if there are, i apologize, i haven't found them)...Thanks for all the help! Gerry

Get a good jewelers loop and you will see it, just have to be patient and hit the correct angle with the light and it will eventually show.

Managed to capture the LEC on my iPhone camera on the second try - it really shouldn't be too hard to spot.

Nice pic.

I've taken my off several time and have never noticed a crown on the bracket. Something to look for next time I put on the Rubber B.😀👍🏽👏🏽

I was in the same position as you. I see you own a SubC too - so did I before I flipped that for a DSSD. When I first got my SubC I felt it was too small, having come from a 42mm. But I got used to it over time. When I took the plunge from a SubC to a DSSD, I felt it was slightly too big and uncomfortable. But I also got used to it over time.

My point being you usually get used to what you wear.

And if you don't, you can always sell it and go back to a Sub or move on to something else.

That's the good thing about Rolex watches - they hold their value so you can watch-hop and own multiple watches with +/- the same initial outlay. And when the time comes for you to cash out on your watch(es), you probably won't lose much money, if any.

Still love this watch after years of ownership. I love it even more since so many seem to hate it, so I don't see it so ubiquitously in the wild.

I usually think the Deepsea looks horrid in anything but the bracelet and a Rubber B, but must admit this looks pretty good from that angle. Any more pics.

My daily beater. I wanted D blue but couldn't find any within 200miles radius so I got the original DSSD.
