Looks good! Which Cohibas are those? I also see Partagas Serie D no 4 and a couple of Hoyo de Monterreys. Excellent!

Received a sensational gift in the post yesterday from a Mate I have never met.



Just thought I would test it on a mid-week smoke..



Steel and steel and Woodford Reserve and what turned out to be a nice smoke and a lot of crap on the table from the grape vine!!



Bulls eye !!



I have some decent smokes on the way - BHK 52, 4 and 6 and I'll test the cutter in style at the weekend.

I have a small humidor holds about 75 sticks.

The problem I have is with the temperature, humidity is 68 with just cigars, although I did season the box for a couple of weeks before I put the Good Fellas in.

Left a shot glass with distilled water in it for 2 weeks

It is pretty much full now



And keeps 68 humidity without any help, no change for 8 weeks with no help from me, and I have calibrated the hygrometer (reads 75 with the salt test).

But the temp in Perth is not doing me any favours..



Yup the right hand gauge says 81 !!

I'm so glad it arrived safely my friend! Enjoy it. Mine has served me very well! Now in response to your question about temperature, you definitely need to try to keep it below 75 degrees F or 23.8 celsius. Anything above that and you are risking hatching of cigar beetles. The humidity level is perfect, especially for cuban cigars which for some reason smoke better (in my opinion) if they are kept in 65-68% humidity. I keep my humidor with Cubans at 68%. I've noticed that my non-cubans smoke better if kept closer to 70%! To resolve the temperature, try putting the humidor out of any sunlight, close to an A/C vent maybe? If that doesn't work then try to find the coolest spot in your house such as an interior closet or maybe even a basement and put your humidor in there to see if it helps. Temperature and humidity need to be kept as constant as possible for proper aging to occur. If that doesn't work out, another option is purchasing a wine cooler with electronic temperature and humidity controls and converting it into a humidor (but this is alot more expensive! )

The safest thing for you to do is convert a thermoelectric wine cooler into a humidor. Find a cheap one either new or second hand, but make sure it's thermoelectric otherwise it will suck the moisture out.

You'll want to passively humidify it with silica beads. There are lots of how-to guides on converting wine coolers for this use.

There are a few guys who make nice wooden drawers on tracks for loose cigars that will fit inside a cooler, and the rest of the space can be used to stack boxes.

So I dumped the RASS and lit up a CoRo



Amazing, down to the fingers smoke

Haven't enjoyed a stick in a while, per Dr's orders. Nothing serious but been regulated to a pretty restrictive diet and no tobacco.

I've lived vicariously thru y'all and been reading with envy. But today I took an hour to enjoy a Fuente Flor Fina 8-5-8 Maduro.

No wine here, (water only if it is flavoured with Scottish peat and distilled a bit etc etc)

Any way, once the temp and humidity have settled, in go the sticks..

Second

A Mate just got back from the DRC (doing a mining job for me) via Johannesburg..

Good Bloke...

Bought me back some smokes..

I said "Cohiba Siglo II but it must be a sealed box"

After he emptied out the humidor in the duty free lounge, he finally found a sealed box..

Here's the box without the health warnings!!





So I'll just let them settle, get over the jet lag etc etc..may be next year...

NAF..Better try one..

2 hours later, the box of 25 is now 24 !!

Absolutely fantastic.

No pics of the experience..

I was sat by the pool, Lagavulin to the right, Siglo II to the left..

I was relaxed, No reason to get up and get the camera, You all know what a fine cigar looks like, just perfect
