I love Daytonas...really love them.
However the VC is fantastic and a new in house movement is coming...soon!

I guess it comes down to which one speaks to you? Do you want something different or just another Rolex?

When the new in house movement comes out I'm buying one personally.

VC but in a different dial but if you bring in AP, then AP all day. Before I got my AP I was considering the overseas and I did like it but AP won that day. I have been looking to move away from my Rolex and get an Overseas.

has the in-house movement for the new overseas been confirmed yet or still a rumor? I haven't been able to keep up with the VC news lately.

By the way, I chose the VC overseas as well in black guilloche. Just my opinion but VC is just a different league than Rolex and if they are finally using their in-house movement just makes it that much better.

I've been wondering the same thing. I haven't seen any official news from VC regarding an in-house in the Overseas.

Well, MitchSteel, your poetic musings moved me, and now this is on my short list of "must have" watches. Damn! And we actually have a VC boutique here.

I realized what it is about the other one that I find cheap looking: it's the date window. I realized as well that I can't stand date windows on any watch, full stop. This was a useful thing to learn about oneself, so thanks. But dammit, now I have a bloody $15k watch on my list.

Edit: Sorry to derail the thread, but these things one gets excited over.

Excellent. One thing I've learned over the years, and not just watch collecting, was to take emotion out of decision making.

The Dual Time OC was on my short list for a GMT type watch, also. But I've decided to stick with Rolex GMTIIC Noir, for its build quality, ease of timezone selection and GMTs history, yes I am still, very much a Rolex fan.

By no stretch, was I trying to sway opinions towards VC as brand.I was stating my personal observations and logic behind my purchase selection.Yes, I do like to go against the grain, that's what I do.Following the heard sometimes is just plain boring to me.

It didn't seem that way, more like you are an enthusiast sharing your enthusiasm.

I would. I prefer the looks of the VC, finishing, case size and having a date.

Great choice on the VC and you won't regret it. I have the blue dial and it is my favorite watch.
As for certain comments on the VC, these are just small opinions.
The VC minute sub dial is larger because if one uses it, that is the primary dial used. easier to see, especially for older guys (40s)
The date is a plus since the most common complaint of the daytona is no date
As for the VC being copied, no way. AP is copied many more times. look at Guess, or Caterpillar, or other cheap brands how they mimic the APs.
As for the bracelet, the VC bracelet is miles above the AP and Rolex. VC each link is a solid piece and each link is screwed in. No other company has that.
Plus you can go swimming with the VC, as with the daytona.
Great watch and great after sales service. They care for the client.

Hahahahahahaa. Older guys? 40's?! Hahahahaa
Im getting close to 40. You reckon Ill need a Panerai soon to tell the time?

So what do we call ppl over 70's? Dinosaurs?
It's funny how we all perceive age differently depending how old we are ourselves.

I am in my late 40s. That is why I know about reading glasses and seeing small dials. Most of the PPs I have are use less now. Need magnifying glass to see them.

I got that when you said older guys (40's) it was very likely you were including yourself. (Presby)opia=(Elder)opia is a fact of life. The lens of the eye becomes less pliable and can't round up as well to focus on near objects. Aging happens much too early in my opinion. I turned 53 on 11/13.

In response to the AP fans of which I'm one, I'm wearing my new AP diver right now and I love it. I really like this ROC but I don't know it I could stand paying $42k for the privilege of being poked in the wrist by the clasp. This fact steers me away from gobbling up every beautiful AP case and dial I see. That and the fact at some point I'd probably run out of money.

The VC is at much higher level than each model of the Daytona, even the platona. However Vacheron Constantin used to be at a much higher level for every watch they made, they still make some really haute horlogerie timepieces. The lower end timepieces like the Overseas is still a different league compared to the daytona.

Even when I knowing this, I still like the Daytona more. I never really liked the bezel of the Overseas.

Most probably already know this but this is the reason the bezel and bracelet have the bond design they do. It's beause the Maltese Cross is the symbol for VC.

The VC is stunning in real life. Rolex movement Daytona, the position of those sub-dials has always been a deal breaker for me.

I've had them both and if you actually want to use a chronograph to time something then IMHO the VC is much easier to read. I had a white Daytona and wound up selling it as I couldn't read the registers without taking off my glasses. I did not have the same problem with the VC.

The best way to decide would be to look at them side by side and see which one you like better.

After having seen this pic I called my trusted seller for a quote for the exact same watch. If price is okay then I might order it this afternoon

(Just a technical side question: Does VC bracelet come with 1 or 2 half links?)

That's awesome. That's what a meaningful discussion. Enough information and respectful enough that we can learn something new. I was in the same boat. I liked the watch at some level compared to the Daytona but I wasn't a buyer when I started the post. The knowledgeable guys (I'd name them but I'd leave out important ones) on here moved me to the place where I became a buyer. The same thing happened when I read a post (I wish I could credit the guy but I cant) posed the question re AP diver vs DSSD blue which I was ready to buy. I now own the AP diver and I made the right decision for myself in that one too. I think you'll live the VC OC.

Today one of my two princesses turns 5 so I'm going to try to stay off of here and focus on her. She's on the right and my other is in the left.

I'm glad for all of the opposing views. I'm convinced both are great watches. It will be interesting to see what comes out in Jan now that I've bought mine.
